Volleyball
We've played 5 games so far this year. Our first game was a loss to SOAR's lower regulation team. Our second game was a win against Decatur's modified team.
Our next two games were part of a medal qualifier (you must earn a medal to go to State). We won our game against Shapiro and lost our game against Special Rec, earning Silver medals.
Our 5th game was a re-match against Special Rec. This time we won!
I don't have the book handy, so I can't give the line scores for any of our games. What I do have, however, is a few pictures.
Rather than go back and post the line scores from previous games, I decided I would simply post the line scores from the two matches at State. Bear with me since this is my first time doing volleyball line scores in HTML!

| So, we ended up losing our first match to Special Rec. Our season record against Special Rec was 1-2. Not too bad. |
Since this was a 3 team division, our next game, against the Harrison Hawks, was not part of the losers bracket. Based on our first game, one might expect us to have lost our second since Special Rec had already lost to the Harrison Hawks.

| Although it took us 3 games, we did end up winning the match. Since each team ended up with 1 win and 1 loss, the place each team finished was determined by the point differential in the games played. So, Special Rec earned 7 points in their games against us ([17-15]+[15-10]=2+5=7). We earned 9 points in our match against Harrison ([15-11]+[15-10]=4+5=9) and they earned 3 points (15-12=3). So, based on that, First place was either determined by the total points scored or by the number of service aces. I'm not sure because I didn't see the results of the Special Rec and Harrison Park match. |
