Spark in the Park 3!!
The yearly tradition of holding a Pro legalization
rally in Pacifica and inviting the stoniest bands was a musical success
if not a political one.
Peninsula Rappers & DJs FATSO
held court with a thick set that ended with a call to all rappers in a
freestyle contest onstage.
Opiate Void played through a boomin set
until the cops decided that the peaceful meadow was being shaken too much
for their tin ears.
After the final Void note was sounded, the boys
in blue approached the stage to try and shut the show down.
Always cool & in control, the event
organizer KEVIN from FREELOAD was able to convince them that there
was nothing
going on except a concert that was supported
by local residents, illustrated by the large amount of families with children
that
turned-out to hear the sounds in the park.
After a tense standoff where one officer felt that a concertgoer moving
behind him
was getting lined-up to hit him with some kind
of non-existent weapon, the show was allowed to continue.
Freeload’s set was strong & long, encompassing
their many originals a few Public Enemy & Sublime covers...
Ending the day was Ice-9. Buy this
time, I was three magic-brownies and several joints under & started
to pack it in.
The whole event was a huge success for the bands
involved. A good day for music & Spark in the Park.
