This is a photo of the back view of the Heaven Gown worn by Rose in Titanic.
My Heaven Gown...is also known as the CrystalGown or Wedding Gown. It is the exact same pattern as the Dinner Gown, except that Rose's gown had turned white.
I began with the Dinner Gown pattern and used white satin. The entire gown is lined with the white satin as well. I then added an overgown of white silk chiffon. The rows of Chantilly Lace were cut into 12" strips. I then hand sewed them onto the skirt front of the gown in a diagonal fashion. The bodice of the gown was wrapped with the same white chiffon as the skirt.
The train of the Heaven Gown is added in the same manner as the Dinner Gown. The train is also made from the white satin, overlayed with white silk chiffon. I then accented the sides and bottom of the train with rows of Chantilly Lace, cutting the rows in 12" strips. This would later be beaded along with the rest of the gown.
The train of the gown is attached at the left shoulder, and attached again at the right hip. This is the same manner that the gown is attached on the Dinner Gown. A rhinestone broach holds the white chiffon and lace together on the left side of the bodice for added adornment.
Then came the beading of the gown. Since the train of this Heaven Gown is longer than the Dinner Gown there are 16,000 crystal beads hand sewed on. Also added to the adornment of the gown are 5,000 white pearls and thousands of opaque sequins. This is my personal Heaven Gown. On gowns that I make for others, it is their preference as to how much beading they want done on their particular gown. There is a lot of work in sewing on these beads, since they are hand sewn on.
This is a gorgeous gown indeed. For adornment jewelry I found a pearl necklace with an oval slide pearl for the center. This was a close match for the necklace that Rose wore with the beautiful gown. I added tiny seed pearl earrings along with a pearl and silver accent piece for the hair. I also found a long...very long...silver pearl beaded necklace that I use for wrapping the hair. This is a close match for the hair cage that Rose wore. The fashion of wrapping the pearl necklace takes practice, but it works really well.
