I saw my life as if I had already lived it. Yes, I imagine that Rose saw herself in the others that were surrounding her. She realized that she was so unhappy, and therefor, at that moment she thought that jumping from the ship was the answer. In a way it was....since that is when she met this wonderful gentleman that taught her what living really was. Until that time, she lived in a stereotyped life. Jack saved Roses life in more ways that one. He was her "knight in shining armor".
My Jump Gown was actually the first gown that I created. I used red satin crepe for the gown and Chantilly Lace for the overlay and the train. The skirt of this gown has an overlay of black tulle over the bodice bottom of the skirt..
There is a over layer of Chantilly Lace over the bodice, sleeves and the train. The beading around the bust line and the two rows at the bottom are hand beaded. I could not find beaded fringe at the time, so the hand work started.
I used one large, four small, another large black bead and sewed it on. I added Alenceon Lace to the bottom of the skirt. The original gown had circles of beads, but I did change it to my design of the lace. There are beads and sequins added to the lace over the bodice, sleeves, back and train of the gown. Beads and sequins were also added onto the Alenceon Lace making this a very dramatic effect.
This gown was a challenge for me, because at that time I could not find beaded fringe. It did turn out really well though. I was very satisfied at how it all came together. Also, there are black sequins around the train, as well as around the sleeves, and neckline.
These photos were taken at a style show held for a Mother/Daughter banquet. This was
quite fun, but I was a bit tired afterward. I have an assistant, but at that time she did not want
to model. Now I can hardly keep her out of the gowns. I have many models now and they all
can hardly wait for the next showing.
