This gown was a bit of a challenge, but it worked out well. I didn't have much of a pattern to go by when creating this gown. I used different pieces from different patterns. I knew the effect that I wanted, and worked with the pattern pieces and the dress form to attain it.
For the underdress I chose to use this mint green crepe satin. The over bodice is of ivory lace. There are rows of lace that had to be added to the skirt of the gown. The lace was very difficult for me to find. Just that right width? I found this lace which worked out really well. It is accented with roses and hangs with a beautifuldrape.
I accented the neckline with gold braided lace. The gimp sleeves really set this gown apart from any other. The sleeves are made from a delicate ivory lace. The large ruffles at the bottom of each sleeve add so much drama to this gown.
The large belt is accented with a large red rose along with two rose buds hanging from satin ribbons. The roses are unique because added to them are small drops of dew. I bought them that way. I don't know what they used to make the dew drops, but they are certainly enchanting.
The gown is latched in the back totally with hooks and eyes. This is another reason for Miss Trudy. These women did not dress themselves.
I created a "hat to match" this gown. It can be seen in other links on this website. It is a straw hat. Using the same mint green crepe satin I accented it with a wide band and formed roses for the side. I also purchased a battenburg lace umbrella for those "sunny days" on the deck of Titanic. There is also a photo of that umbrella on this website.
This is a very tight fitting gown. By wearing this gown, I saw why Rose walked the way she did when she wore it. It is very tight indeed for walking. You must walk tiny steps, which makes you look a so much more sophisticated.
