My Transformers Wish List

This is my Special Transformers Wish List. I collect mainly Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus, and Megatron. With that said, there are mainly related and Japanese-versions of these characters. I have included a brief description and a rough price estimate. You can buy new Transformers at most regular stores, but any of the older ones might be tougher to find. You can try online at Capturedprey.com or even eBay. Please e-mail me for the list of Transformers that are available in stores currently. Check out Transformaj for more information on Transformers.

For many of these Transformers, there are a number of different versions. Make sure you know the difference between U.S. and Japan. Hasbro is the American company and Takara is the Japanese company. In Japan, there was a code that went along with the name of the character. They had a letter, according to what side they were on and then they were numbered. A “C” was for “Cybertrons,” who were the good guys and a “D” was for “Destrons,” obviously the bad guys. For example, the first Transformer listed is “Star Convoy,” and is a Cybertron. He was listed as C-372. All Japanese versions should have this method of numbering.

Also, there are "original's" and "reissue's." Reissues are going to be much cheaper. I'd like the originals, if money wasn't an issue, but, well, it is. So if there is a "reissue" available, just go for that. The explanation under each figure will say whether there is a reissue or not. I am totally fine with the reissue.

There's also difference between how the figure comes packages, whether it is in a box or not. It it is in a box and it's in great condition, it will say either "MIB" or "MISB," which means "Mint In Box," and "Mint In Sealed Box," respectively. If a character is “loose,” it just means the figure is without the box or packaging. If it is loose, you also want to ensure that it is loose AND complete, just so it has all its accessories and what not. For the most part, I prefer MIB, unless otherwise noted.

Beware of knock-offs. You do NOT want any version that is Chinese, Taiwanese, or Korean, such as the Kabaya brand from China. These are "KO" or Knock-Offs. Be careful not to buy knock-offs, unless that’s what you want.

Check out my other Wish List for other, non-Transformer gifts. Much like that list, these Transformers are roughly in order from most-wanted to not-as-much-wanted, from top to bottom.

My Top Wanted Transformers

Star Convoy C-372

This is the reissue of Star Convoy C-372. He is from the Battlestars series. It’s Optimus Prime as a futuristic giant semi-truck. It was originally released in 1991, but was reissued in 2005. The original Star Convoy goes for up to $400 MIB and a loose one would go for $200. The reissue is much cheaper at around $50 to $70, but if you look hard enough, you should be able to find one for $40.

Burning Beast Convoy RM-21

This is Burning Beast Convoy from Robot Masters. He is also know as RM-21 Burning Beast Convoy w/DVD#2 and was made available in Japan in 2004. He’ll go for about $20 MIB or just $5 loose, but he probably won’t come with the DVD then. For that reason, despite the much cheaper price, do not buy out of box. He is picture out of box here, but with all the packaging and accessories. He’s like the regular version of Beast Convoy, but he’s made of mostly red, clear plastic. Beast Convoy is the Japanese version of Optimus Primal, a successor of Optimus Prime who turns into a gorilla. Robot Masters are Transformers made by Takara, but they are much smaller, yet still have all the same degree of detail as their larger counterparts.

Pepsi Convoy

Pepsi Convoy is Optimus Prime as a Pepsi truck. He is known as Pepsi Optimus Prime in the U.S. release. Pictured above is the U.S. release of the reissue of Pepsi Optimus Prime and was available as an exclusive in June 2007. The original Pepsi Optimus Prime, released in the U.S. by Hasbro in 1985, would run about $350 MIB and $150 loose. However, you can get a reissue on eBay for between $20-50, but only buy from a U.S dealer. You can get them cheaper from out of country dealers, but then you pay a boatload for shipping.

Galvatron D-16

Galvatron D-16 is from Beast Wars II (also called Beast Wars Second) from 1998 in Japan. A price guide says he’s about $40 MIB, but you should be able to pick one up for only $20. Loose, he’s said to be $10. However, he’s so prevalent, that you shouldn’t pay more than $25 or $30, at the most. Without too much trouble, you could easily find a $20 Galvatron D-16.

Ape Linq

Ape Linq is a Bot Con exclusive from 2000. He’s a repaint of Transmetal Optimus Primal. In the guide, he’s priced at $65 MIB and $20 loose. I’ve seen them go between $20 and $30. I wouldn’t pay more than $40 for one and only buy him MIB. As a convention exclusive, he’s in limited supply, which is why there is such a higher price in the price guide. He actually is hard to find in general, but when you do, he’s rarely as high as $40.

Lio Convoy C-16

Lio Convoy C-16 from the Beast Wars II series from 1998 is Optimus Prime as a white lion. The smaller picture is the "Flash" version, if I'm not mistaken. This was available only in Japan. The regular, white lion version is about $35 MIB and $9 loose. The Flash version, which is like a clear, sparkly version, is $50 MIB and $13 loose. There is an all-black version that goes for $90 MIB and $23 loose. Just get the regular white version, the other two are way too expensive. Sometimes though, you can get a Flash version for the same price as the regular. Lio Convoy also comes in a double pack with Galvatron D-16, but that is much too much, so forget that.

Beast Convoy RM-11

Beast Convoy is much like Burning Beast Convoy, but he’s colored more like Optimus Primal and a regular gorilla. He goes for about $18 MIB and $5 loose. All the Robot Masters figures came in boxes very similar to this one. So make sure any of the Robot Masters or RM versions of other characters (listed below) have boxes like this one.

Big Convoy C-35

Big Convoy is from Beast Ways Neo from 1999, available only in Japan, and is Optimus Prime as a mastodon. In the price guide it goes for $80 MIB and $20 loose. It’s probably going to be at least $50 on eBay, so due to it’s higher price, it’s not the highest one on the list to get. However, if you do look for it, watch out for the Korean one. It looks identical in figure, but the box is way different. It’s apparently licensed by Takara, but I don’t know for sure. It’s best just to avoid it. There is also an all-black version that goes for $120 MIB and $30 loose. Again, too pricey, so don’t get that one.

The following are big and expensive. They are cool, but I rather you save your money and just get one of the above. But hey, just in case you are really rich and are feeling ridiculously generous, here you go.

Star Sabers C-324

Star Saber C-324 is the leader of the good guys from the 1989 Japanese series, Transformers Victory. He takes over from Optimus Prime, so he’s a key character. He’s a “Brainmaster,” which was the transforming gimmick for that series. In the price guide, he’s $200 MIB and $100 loose. Being older and rarer, I’ve seen him go for about $300 to $400 on eBay MIB. The only time I’ve seen him go for $100 is a loose copy that is somewhat rough. There is a much cheaper, much smaller version of Star Saber from the Robot Masters Series from 2004. That one is in a similar box to the other “Robot Masters.” It is called RM-15 Star Saber and goes for about $16 MIB and $4 loose. For the RM version, just buy a loose, complete version, without the box. I’d much prefer that, as far as bang for your buck. Do not confuse this character for the “Star Saber” sword that was an actual sword thing from the Transformers Armada series.

Victory Leo C-327

Victory Leo C-327 is also from Transformers Victory in 1989. He also goes for $200 MIB and $100 loose. He combines with Star Saber. I already have the Robot Master version of this one. The big version pictured above is rare, and again like Star Saber, he usually goes for $300-400 on eBay.

Victory Saber C-328

Victory Saber C-328 is a the combined version of Victory Leo & Star Saber featured in one box. It’s super rare and goes for $500 MIB and $250 loose. Let’s be honest, that’s way too expensive.

Dai Atlas C-348

Dai Atlas C-348 is from the short-lived Japanese Transformers: Zone from 1990. He was the leader from that group of good guys. He’s a “Powered Master,” which was the gimmick for that series. In the price guide, he goes for $200 MIB and $100 loose, but he’s so rare that he’s hard to find on eBay and rarely that cheap.

Deathsaurus D-336

Deathsaurus was the main villain from Transformers Victory from 1989 from Japan. It goes for about $250 MIB and $125 loose in the price guide. I rarely see them that cheap on eBay. There is an updated version of Deathsaurus, made exclusively available for the 2005 Botcon. It’s significantly cheaper, but probably only available in the set it came in. It’s available at the Transformers Collector’s Club on-line store, both MIB and loose. However, it’s much cheaper for members, like myself, so ask me before you buy to save up to $65 for the set. But let’s face it, you aren’t going to get this one anyway.

Here are some other Transformers that I want

They are listed in groups. The groups are in no particular order, but the lists themselves are in the order that I would want them, from top to bottom. They have the name of the figure, then the series and year they are from, and finally the price from the price guide with the MIB price first, then the loose price.
