Head Towards Mexico

It was a hot sticky day. The air was close and hard to breathe. This was the last place Katelyn should have been. Rising from the car, the door slammed behind her as if to say, “Do it now!” The smells of oil and gasoline filled her nose as she walked towards the door.

“Howdy Ma’am, haw may I help ya?” said a middle aged man who appeared too have gotten old before his time.

“Is Robert in?” Katelyn said forcefully.

“Rob! Someone’s here to see ya.”

“Who is it Hank?” said Rob emerging from the shop wiping his hands upon a dirty old rag. “Why hello, Sexy.”

“Hello Sexy yourself you fuckin’ bastard! Did you think I wouldn’t find out? And my best friend of all people. How could you?”

“I don’t know...”

“That’s right! You don’t know anything!” With that Katelyn punched Rob square in the jaw with such a force that he tumbled back head over heels on to the floor. “Maybe you would like to buy a clue? Better yet maybe Debbie could give you one.” Still violent with rage she stepped up and kicked him in the ribs. “That will teach you to run-around you slimy bastard! And to think that you were my first, what was I thinking?” Still writhing in pain, clutching his ribs Rob begged, “Please Katelyn forgive…”

“You don’t deserve forgiveness!” Katelyn yelled whipping out a 45 “You don’t even deserve to live!”

“No Katelyn, please don’t!” Rob screamed in udder terror. She gently pulled the trigger, then again and again. Each time with a renewed since of power. She like the sound the gun made each time it went off, the sound of the bullets piecing Rob’s flesh, and the sounds of pain coming from his mouth. This bastard deserved to die. Katelyn emptied all the bullets in her gun into Rob’s head and chest, all her bullets but one.

“What du?” said Hank dumfound by what had just occurred. Katelyn spun around, leveled the gun at Hank’s chest and fired, knocking him back through the open door and on to the road where he collapsed, dead. Looking down at Rob’s bloody corpse, she laughed at the realization of what she had done. Katelyn jumped in her car and peeled out, running over Hank’s lifeless husk. She turned on to the highway towards Mexico.

“I sure showed him!” Katelyn muttered with a smile of satisfaction.
