Current Activites
On January 9, 1998, three teenagers were rushed to Sherman Hospital after their car was hit by a drunk driver. These teenagers attended Jacobs High School. No one was criticaly injured, but the crash has spurred new support and membership to the Jacobs SADD program. New members include: Laura Weinhammer, Emily McDonough, Robyn Schuricht, Jenny Polcyn, Robin Wright, and Melissa Cowan. New members are always welcome.
The 1997-98 school year brought many new additions to the SADD chapter. We hope to add and enhance our upcoming projects next year as well.
SADD is codeveloping projects with other organizations such as IMPACT, Snowflake, and DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). We will be planning new assemblies and coops for high-risk activities such as Prom, Winter Break, and Spring Break. In the past, SADD has sponsored a safe-ride hotline for teenagers during these times.
SADD was involved in the DARE Role Model Program, established to help elementary age students deal with new issues.
We started fundraising for DARE and for t-shirts.
SADD has been including statistics in the school's announcements, so if you have any information concerning facts or statistics, please feel free to email us with it.
Fatalities in alcohol-related crashs rose by 4% from 1994 to 1995, the first increase in a decade. Keep checking the site for more news and information.
