Chapter 2
"HERE WE COME, WALKING DOWN THE STREET..."
The rest was lost in the noise the crowd made. Girls were screaming their lungs out. And when the boys finally got out the giant speakers they were hidden in, the fans' excitement was at its peak. The atmosphere of joy and admiration was so intense it was almost painful; some girls even fainted of emotion. As for Allison, she couldn't get her eyes off Davy. She couldn't believe she was so close to the man who made her dream. So close... but so far at the same time! Joy and sadness were fighting in her heart and two tears rolled down her cheeks. At that very moment, Davy saw her. He felt something he had never felt before. He had had many beautiful girlfriends but he had never experienced love at first sight! He promised himself he would meet that girl after the show. When Micky took the microphone, Nicole's heart skipped a beat. He was there, close to her, singing, dancing and looking more attractive than ever. Nicole was absolutely fascinated.
When the show was over, Allison and Nicole decided to wait a little bit before going out. There was a huge crowd, and they didn't feel like being pushed. They sat down and waited, talking about the show.
A tall man approached the girls. He talked to Allison:
- Miss?
- Yes?
- I'm Walter Myers, one of the Monkees' bodyguards. He showed his identity card, which bore his picture, his name, his title and the Monkees' logo. He went on:
- Mr David Jones would like to meet you.
Allison was stunned. She asked the man to repeat what he had said. He did. Allison felt more than happy but she didn't forget Nicole was with her. So, she answered:
- I'm not going anywhere without my friend.
- She may come with us. Follow me, please.
The bodyguard led the two girls backstage. At the sight of Allison, Davy had a wide smile and came to her:
- I noticed you in the crowd and I had to meet you. It doesn't bother you, I hope?
- On the contrary. Allison blushed. She realized she was in front of her very favorite star. She couldn't believe that he had wanted to meet her.
As for Nicole, she couldn't stop looking at Micky who was talking to Peter. Peter said something to Micky, glancing meaningfully at Nicole. Micky turned around to look at her. She felt shy and lowered her gaze. Micky smiled and came near her.
- Hi! What's your name?
- I'm Nicole Watson.
- Nicole! Beautiful name! And beautiful eyes, too! You have something planned for tonight?
- Well, that depends on Allison. I came to the concert with her.
- Hmm... She seems to see nothing but Davy, right now.
- I'm waiting for her We're going back home together.
- Is she your sister?
- Almost. We've been friends since childhood.
Davy came to talk to them:
- How about having a snack together?
But it was out of the question to go to a restaurant because there were still a crowd of fans around the arena and it would be impossible to go to a restaurant without having all those people following them. The most peaceful place to enjoy a meal between friends was the hotel. So, The Monkees, their two guests and the bodyguards got into a limousine that was waiting for them and they were taken to the hotel. A guard had phoned there before and a delightful supper was ready when they arrived. After the meal, Allison and Nicole were driven home in the same limousine.
