~You Just May Be The One - Part 4~

"Jenna, oh God, Jenna, please wait!" Micky scrambled to get into a pair of jeans and then ran after her.

"Stay away from me!" She screamed, her feet spitting up sand as she barreled down the beach.

He caught up to her, grabbing her arm and pulling her to the ground. "I'm sorry!" He pleaded.

"Get away from me!" She hit and kicked at him, hot tears running down her face.

"Stop, please listen to me." He held her wrists tightly.

"How could you do that to me?" She sobbed.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He pushed the hair from her face. "Please, Jenna, you have to forgive me." He kissed her face all over.

"No!" She pushed him away. "Don't touch me. My God, five minutes ago, you were…" She trailed off.

"Jenna, she didn't mean anything to me." He said. "I don't even know her name."

"And that's supposed to make me feel better?" She half-laughed. "Do you know what hurts the most? It wasn't me."

"What?"

"It should have been me doing that to you. But everytime we get close, you pull away." She stood up. "Now I know why, you'd rather fuck everyone else."

"That's not true!" He stood up in front of her. "There's nothing I want more than to make love to you." He took her hand. "I got scared and I'm sorry."

She pulled her hand away and wiped her tears. "Its too late, Mick." With that she walked away leaving him there alone.

"I oughta kick your ass, Dolenz!" Mike stormed at him after finding out what had happened.

"Go ahead." Micky didn't flinch. "You can't make me feel any worse than I already do."

"I can try." He pulled him up by the front of his shirt.

"No!" Jenna grabbed his arm before he could pull back and swing. "Mike, put him down."

"I just want to punch him once. That's all it will take." He dropped Micky and then stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"No. Now look, you guys are just going to have to let me take care of myself." She reasoned.

"But he hurt you."

"Yes, he did." She looked at Micky and then back at Mike. "But he didn't hurt you. Whatever happens, it cannot affect your friendship or the band."

"Jenna…" Micky whispered.

"No, Mick." She shook her head. "I can't talk to you, not now." She went back to her room and quietly shut the door.

At the gig the following Saturday night, Jenna sat at her usual table. She didn't want to be there. It hurt so much to look up at that stage and see him looking back at her. But she wanted to get all of their lives back to normal and this seemed like the best first step she could take.

"For our last song tonight, we want to do something new." Micky spoke into the microphone. "I wrote this for someone very special. I didn't realize how special until I lost her." He looked at Jenna. "This is 'That was Then, This is Now'."

You always say you like my style.
You say I'm tough and kind of wild.
Am I too much for you to tame?
I swear this time it's not a game.
I've known a lot of girls.
No, this I won't deny.
I'll give our love,
I'll give it more than a try.
That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I'll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now
I've led a thousand lives it seems.
And there's been a lot of broken dreams.
My mind's just swept love aside.
But you broke me down and put me wise.
I've doubted all compassion,
But you showed me the door.
I can't doubt it,
I don't doubt it no more.
That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I'll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now.
I've known a lot of girls.
No, this I won't deny.
I'll give our love,
I'll give it more than a try.
That was then, (that was then) this is now.
Let me prove my love girl, I'll make you proud.
I never made (never made) this kind of vow.
That was then, this is now.
That was then, this is now.
That was then, this is now.

By the time the song was over, tears were streaming down Jenna's face. She ran to meet him backstage. The crowd was swarming around them as they stood there perfectly still, their eyes locked.

He moved first, walking towards her and placing his hands on her shoulders. "Jen…"

"Micky, you can't just write a song for me and expect everything to be alright." She took one step closer to him but her hands remained still at her sides. "It was a beautiful song."

"Jenna, I love you." He blurted out. "I was so scared of that because I've never felt anything close to what I feel for you." His grip tightened on her shoulders. "Please forgive me, I'm so sorry. Please come back to me."

"I…I don't know." She backed away. "I need to think." She left through the stage door.
