~Hold On Girl - Part 3~

Dinner consisted of pizza and beer at Micky's house on his living room floor in front of a roaring fire. There were no interruptions, no cameras and no reporters but there was a lot of good conversation. After they finished eating, they both leaned back against the couch to watch the fire and talk some more.

"Okay, I have to ask you this." Kate giggled. "Do you really put orange juice on your cereal?"

"Yes." Micky stated, looking over at her with a smile. "I know it sounds disgusting, but it really is good. You should try it some time."

"Orange juice on Lucky Charms?" She twisted her face. "I think I'll stick with milk."

There was a long pause as they looked at each other, their eyes locked. Micky leaned towards her slowly giving her time to pull back. When she didn't, he kissed her softly on the lips. Cupping her face between his hands, he deepened the kiss. Kate's arms instinctively went around his neck. His lips left hers kissing across her cheek and down her neck. A small moan escaped her throat before she could stop herself.

"I can't…I can't do this." She placed her hands on his chest and gently pushed him away. "I'm sorry." She whispered.

"No, Katie, don't be sorry." He dropped his hands. "You don't feel the same way I do."

"No, that's not it." She looked at him. "I'm feeling too much for you." She stood up quickly. "I have to go."

"Wait!" Micky jumped up and grabbed her arm. "Stay, let's talk about this."

"I can't." She pulled her arm free. "Please, I really need to get out of here."

Micky searched her eyes and saw hurt, fear and confusion. "Who was he? Who hurt you?"

"We hurt each other." She looked down at the floor. "I can't go through that again." A tear rolled down her cheek. "Good bye, Micky." She ran out the door.

"Katie, please!" Micky stood at the door and called after her but she didn't stop.
