~Hold On Girl - Part 7~

Kate woke up the next morning with a pounding headache and an upset stomach. She shuffled into the bathroom and found a note from Lars taped to the mirror. It read: "Had to go to the studio, make yourself at home. There's aspirin in the medicine cabinet. We'll talk later."

Kate found the aspirin and downed four of them before taking a long hot shower. She borrowed a pair of sweat pants and a tee shirt from Lars' closet and then made her way downstairs. She looked outside and was happy that it was raining; it matched her mood.

She walked into the kitchen and saw Micky sitting at the counter holding a cup of steaming coffee. "Lars said you might need some of this." He said quietly holding out the cup.

"I don't want anything from you." She replied coldly. "What are you doing here?"

"Lars called me late last night and told me you were here. I was worried sick." He placed the cup down on the counter and pushed it towards her.

"You don't have to worry about me anymore. Why don't you go home to your new girlfriend." She pushed the cup away and then poured one of her own.

"It's not what you think. The least you could do is let me explain what happened." He defended.

"I don't need to hear any explanations. I've heard it all before. Just go away." She walked out of the room.

"No, damn it!" He followed her. "Not until you've listened to me."

"I don't want to listen to you." She stormed and then grabbed her head in pain.

"Well, too bad." He took her arm and half-dragged her over to the couch. "The woman who answered the phone last night was Trina, my ex-wife."

"Oh, this should be good." She crossed her arms. "Alright, you've got my attention, I'm listening."

"She showed up while I was getting dressed for the charity function. At first I thought maybe something was wrong with one of the kids but it turned out she just wanted to pick a fight. I was late to pick you up so I finally just left her there. By the time I got to your house, not only had you called and talked to her but you were already gone." He took a deep breath. "I went back home and she was still there. She took great pleasure in telling me that you called. We fought and then I kicked her out. Right after, Lars called me and told me you were here."

"You expect me to believe that?" She stood up and started pacing back and forth.

"Yes!" He answered strongly. "It's the truth."

"Why…why should I believe you?" She could feel the tears building in her eyes.

"Because I love you, damn it!" He exclaimed. "I love you!"

"You just come in here after a night doing who knows what and tell me…" She stopped and looked at him in complete shock. "Could you say that one more time?"

"I love you, Kate." He smiled, walking over to her and placing his hands on her shoulders. "I'm absolutely and completely in love with you. You have changed my life these last few months. I want to be with you all the time and for as long as you'll have me. I've wanted to tell you for a long time now but I wasn't sure you felt the same way."

"What changed your mind?" She smiled through her tears.

"A whole bottle of rum, from what I hear." He laughed rubbing her arms. "So, do you?"

"Do I what?" She looked up at him with a teasing gleam in her eyes.

"You know…do you love me?" He asked shyly.

She cupped his face in her hands and kissed him passionately. She poured everything she felt into that kiss and felt her knees go weak as he kissed her back. "Does that answer your question?"

"I think so, but maybe you should tell me one more time." He hugged her tightly.

"I love you, Dolenz." She melted against him.

THE END!
