Being at the pier was the perfect way to spend the afternoon before the concert. The sun was so bright and the air cool. The Chicago skyline had never looked so clear and crisp. And that's exactly what Amber was looking at instead of watching where she was going.
She tripped and fell right into someone. "Oh gosh, I'm so sorry!" She fumbled to get her footing.
"Are you alright?" The man asked holding her arms by the elbows.
"Yes, I'm fine." She knew that voice. She looked up at him with deep blue eyes noticing that he was wearing dark sunglasses and a baseball cap. "Thank you for catching me." She smiled. She couldn't believe that she was standing here in the arms of the man that she had admired and loved since she was a little girl. The man whose sweet voice had brought her through many down times. But what she really couldn't believe was that she was so calm.
"Drop in anytime." He gave her arms a gentle squeeze before letting go. She started to walk past him when he gently grabbed her arm again. "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know where I could get a slice of pizza, would you?"
"I know the best place to get a slice of pizza." She held out her hand. "My name is Amber."
"Hi Amber." He took her hand and linked their fingers together. "Would you like to join me for lunch?"
"Yeah, I'd like that a lot."
"Great, lead the way."
