~Daddy's Song - Part 1~

JANUARY, 1973…

"I'll get it!" Micky called walking out of the kitchen after hearing the doorbell ring.

"No, I'll get it!" Madison laughed walking out of her office and bumping into him.

They both raced towards the door. Madison got there first but Micky skidded in behind wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "We'll both get it." He laughed.

Madison opened the door. "Hi." She said cheerfully to the man on the other side. He was in his early fifties, medium height with a stocky build.

"Hello." He replied in a deep voice. "I'm looking for Madison Dolenz."

"I'm Madison Dolenz and this is my husband, Micky." She responded gesturing to Micky who still had his arms wrapped around her from behind.

The man sighed slightly and looked at her with kind eyes. "I'm not exactly sure how to say this. My name is Bill." He took a deep breath. "Bill Sage. I'm your father."

"Oh God." Madison whispered and then fainted into Micky's arms.

"Doll, wake up." Micky had carried her to the couch and was lightly tapping her cheeks.

Madison stirred slightly. "I had the strangest dream. My father was here." Slowly, her eyes fluttered open and focused. She looked up at Micky and then Bill standing behind him. "It wasn't a dream."

Madison had never really talked about her father and the only thing Micky knew was that he had left her, Danielle and her mother when she was a little girl. "No, doll, it wasn't a dream."

She sat up slowly. "What do you want?" He asked glaring at Bill.

"Nothing." Bill answered. "I wanted to see you."

"Well, you've seen me, now get out of my house." She stood, the anger raising in her voice.

Mac had wandered in the room. "Mama, who's that?" He asked looking up at his grandfather.

Madison walked over to him. "No one baby." She hugged him tightly. "Go on up to your room and play."

"Maddie, please." Bill pleaded after Mac had left the room.

"Maybe you should talk to him." Micky urged.

"No, Mick, I don't want to talk to him." She snapped. "I saw him walk out on his family 20 years ago." She glared at Bill. "I would appreciate it if you would do the same thing right now. Please leave." She stormed out of the living room and up the stairs to their bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
