The day after the picnic, Micky, Mike, Peter and Davy got together at Mike's Los Angeles home. By the end of the day, the four had decided to record a new album, each of them contributing songs. One month later, they entered the recording studio and laid down 15 tracks in one day. Six months later, the album was ready for release and Billboard was sponsoring a concert at the Hard Rock Café in Los Angeles to promote it and the upcoming tour.

"Is anyone else nervous?" Madison paced wringing her hands together. It was a few minutes before the promotional concert was set to begin.
"Very." Samantha agreed. "I've had butterflies in my stomach for a week."
"Me too." Laura paced a different way than Madison. "I don't think I've ever been this nervous."
"Did you see the guys?" Madison questioned. "They're completely at ease. Micky said there was nothing to be nervous about."
"That's because we're doing all the worrying for them." Samantha laughed.

The Monkees came out from their dressing rooms a few minutes later. "Well, this is it." Mike clapped his hands together. He draped his arm around Laura's shoulders. "I'm glad you're here." He whispered in her ear.
She smiled up at him. "I wouldn't be anyplace else. I love you."
"That's good to know." He brushed a kiss across her forehead and led her a few steps away from the others. "Marry me."
"What?" Laura's eyes grew big.
"Will you marry me?" He asked very seriously.
"Yes!" She threw her arms around his neck.
He held her close. "I love you." He kissed her deeply drawing attention from the others.
"Public affection from Michael Nesmith?" Micky pointed. "Now there's something you don't see every day."
"That's for sure." Davy agreed with a smile. "I wonder what's up."
"Well, since y'all are so nosy, I'll tell ya." Mike grinned. "Laura and I are getting married."
"Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle." Micky laughed. "No pun intended, of course." He joined the others in a huge group hug.
"Five minutes, guys!" The stage manager interrupted.
"This is what it's all about." Peter said softly when the hug broke. "It always should have been." He looked over at Mike and stuck out his hand. "Congratulations, Nez."
"Thanks, man." Mike took Peter's hand and instead of shaking, pulled him into a hug.
"Okay, break it up." Samantha wiped the tears off her cheeks. "You've got a show to do."
"Yeah, all this emotion is even getting to me." Madison laughing wiping her own eyes.
"And as we all know, you're the queen of emotion." Micky chuckled pulling her into his arms. "And I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for believing in us, doll."
"Always and forever." She hugged him tightly.
"Okay, the announcer is about to introduce you." The stage manager told them.
----------------------------------------
Madison, Samantha and Laura walked the guys to the side curtain.
"They stormed onto the music scene in the 60's." The announcer started. "They dominated the 70's and now they are back in the 90's! What else can I say…here are Micky, Michael, Peter and Davy…THE MONKEES!!!"
