~I'll Spend My Life With You - Part 2~

JUNE 23, 1970…

After months of anticipation and planning, the big day finally arrived, the day Mike and Samantha would be wed. There was, of course, complete ciaos. The wedding was going to take place on the beach at sunset with the reception to follow at the Malibu Hilton. Madison's house was being used as the bride's headquarters and the pad as the groom's. Everyone was running around like mad trying to get dressed and finish up the last minute details.

"How's the bride?" Micky asked walking up behind Madison and putting his arms around her waist.

"Nervous." Madison giggled. "How about the groom?"

"He's about as calm as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs." He imitated Mike's accent.

Madison laughed, "And you want to go through all this?"

He turned her around and set his hands on her shoulders. "Yes, doll, I do. I want to marry you."

"How's Peter?" She quickly changed the subject. "He's been acting strange lately."

"Nothing has changed there." Micky let the marriage discussion go. "I don't know what's going on with him lately. Mike says he isn't home most of the time and when he is, he mopes around the house. Plus, he's missed a lot of rehearsals lately."

"Maybe he just needs some time. There have been a lot of changes around here lately. The new album coming out, Mike's getting married and you moved in here. He's going to be all alone in that big house."

"Maybe." Micky sighed then chucked. "Ya know, that house didn't seem so big when there were four of us living there bumping into each other all the time."

"That's for sure." She wrapped her arms around his waist. "I better go see how Samantha's doing."

"And I should go check on that long-tailed cat." Micky laughed kissing the top of her head. "I'll see you at the altar."

The evening was blossoming into the perfect setting. The sun just barely dipping into the water at the horizon and the sky filled with soft orange, red and yellow colors. The air was warm with a light cool breeze. Small bonfires set around the outside of the "chapel" giving off warm light. Madison walked down the sandy aisle in a long pink bride's maid dress. She saw Mike and Micky standing at the front of the "chapel" both dressed in their tuxedos and as Micky winked at her, she knew she was finally ready to say yes. Peter and Davy, who were taking turns holding Mac, stood in the front row. Madison reached the altar, there was a slight pause and then the "Wedding March" began.

Samantha slowly walked down the sandy aisle, her simple white wedding dress flowing behind her. She held a bouquet of white and pink roses in her hands and her long chestnut hair was pulled up with curly wisps hanging down and encircling her face. Mike felt his heart stop at her beauty and knew they would spend the rest of their lives together.

"And now for some entertainment news." Candice Binge, TV reporter for Channel 6 said. "Last night, Mike Nesmith of The Monkees married Samantha Green. The wedding was held on the beach at sunset. The couple met in January of 1968." She paused briefly. "Chuck Stone, manager for The Monkees, said the couple would be honeymooning in Paris and then returning to California to live. Mr. Stone also confirmed that drummer, Micky Dolenz and long time girlfriend, Madison Sage, announced their engagement at the reception and would also be getting married soon. Their son, Mac, turned one in March."

"In a related story." Candice paused once again, "We have received a report that Peter Tork, bassist for The Monkees, was arrested late last night on drug charges. Mr. Stone would neither confirm nor deny this, stating only no comment."

THE END!
