Here are some photos from Halloween 1998. This is a Poison Ivy Costume which I designed. Unfortunately the photos where taken at a party and do not show the glimmer of the bodysuit. I sprayed it in a mixture of fairy dust (very minute glitter that never seems to wash out), and glittery puffy paint, and it shimmer and glistened.
The three photos though not the best, show the basic concept of the costume. The bodysuit is actually strapless and sleeveless, and the green that appears to be long sleeves are actually handless gloves in matching fabric. Silk ivy leaves decorate the bustline and the ties on the cape. The tights have ivy trailing up and down the sides, and the hair cones were constructed from styrofoam, and some of my real hair. Several years back I had my hair cut short for the first time in ages, and I saved the ponytail thinking I might be able to use it or sell it. Well I finally used it to wrap around the cones. The cape was fantastic. I bought it originally at a costume shop sale and it had a hideous yellow quilted lining. I tore the lining out, and replaced it with more red, and used two long green chiffon scarves as the ties, which after tying I then let drape down my back. Finally I used latex to affix gold ivy at my brows, and let more wind through my hair and around the cones. For a costume made with limitted funds and materials, though it's not exactly like the original Poison Ivy, I think it was a pretty good resemblance.
