Smärslids Islandshästar - Icelandic horses of Smärslid, Sweden
Hi ! We are Tim Kvick and Ingemar Carlsson and in the west of Sweden close
to the little town "Säffle" 180 kilometers north from Gothenburg we have a
small farm. We have about 30 icelandic horses, mostly pintos, silver
dapples and some roans. Our breeding goal is to produce nice tempered
healthy and strong horses with unusual colors and good gaits. We prefer
horses that are a bit "old-fashioned"; not so very lightly built.
We have one silver dapple black stallion ; Askur frá Hofstadaseli. He is a
really nice four-gaited guy with lots of proud looks and good movements.
His offspring inherits the proud neck, white markings and four clear gaits
with big movements. 50% of them get the silver gene, but it will appear
different on different base colors. (for color inheritance please visit
Kim´s homepage.
We get 2-6 foals a year, and we try to keep at least half of them until
they are grown up and ridden, we like to do the work with the young horse
ourselves to get to know our breeding material better. And we don´t really
like selling horses because they are part of the family ;-)
