Pictures While on Leave

I had four leaves while in the Army. While I might have used them to do more tours, I usually did short tours on passes or on free weekends. The leave time was all spent at home. The first was two weeks just before I went overseas. The second was in 1986. Because I was going on "overseas leave," I was able to take a month-long one — could hardly pass that up. Called it jokingly my first vacation to America. The third I took at the end of my active duty, so I was able to leave the base sooner.

My high school buddy, Rick, and I here. I'm wearing my tee-shirt from the New Orleans World's Fair. Planned to move to New Orleans but did not. Didn't have plans to join the Army, but I did, which is what this picture reminds me of.

After Leave, I head overseas to the European Theater.
