Friends
We've been friends for many a-years,
Sharing happiness and many tears.
I had my first boyfriend with you by my side,
I told you everything; I had nothing to hide.
There were no secrets kept from you,
You were faithful and always true.
Many boyfriends and friends have gone,
But you were always there as a shoulder to cry on.
My sister's moved away, my parents are deceased,
But our love and friendship did increase.
I grew up and got married just like you,
We stuck by each other through and through.
Now as I look down at you,
I see the years we've been through.
I plant upon your forehead a kiss,
Hoping you know you will be missed.
I saw the things that we once did,
As they slowly closed the lid.
The tears did flow,
As I watched you go.
Knowing you'll watch over me,
I whisper, we will reunite someday; wait and see.
