The Mirror

Look into the mirror
Consumed by vanity
You think you’re beautiful
But you don’t like what you can’t see

Look into the mirror
A little red around the eyes
You say that you’re okay
You’re just telling lies

Look into the mirror
You’ll do as you please
For a drink of precious poison
You’re begging on your knees

Look into the mirror
Beauty faded away
You’re only sixteen years old
Your own mother couldn’t guess your age

See your reflection in the mirror?
Yes, that face is yours!
Can’t you see you’re dying
Lying there on the floor?

Please look into the mirror
There’s beauty left there still
But if you sell your soul for poison
You might as well start writing your will

See the broken shards of mirror
Can’t stand to see your own face
Too many swallows of poison
In the wrong time and place

Take a good look in the mirror
If you can still see
It’s never too late to turn back
If you’d only listen to me

Look into the mirror
Your reflection is so empty
I remember when you were beautiful
Before you were too blind to see

Dust gathers on the mirror
You don’t look at it anymore
I close my mind to the memory
Of your body dead on the floor

I think about the mirror
That reflected your fall from grace
From the heights of life to the depths of hell
I can no longer look on your face

Look into the mirror . . .
