Have You Ever Seen a Star Fall?
Have you ever seen a star fall?
A single light in the sky
Beauty and perfection extolled
And worshipped in its prime
Ignored when shadows cast a taint
Over its purity
And when it falls
An agonizing descent
From unimaginable power and idolism
Like a deer shot down
an arrow piercing its heart
The people stop and stare
And think only of its beauty
Even in death
Not of the terrible waste Of such a life
And when it's gone
This perfect goddess of the night
None are there to mourn her
But look only to a new goddess
Tto worship nightly
Never missed
Nnever appreciated
Taken for granted
And then laughed at
As she falls from heavenly grace
Have you ever seen a star fall? . . . .
