I Don't Want to Miss A Thing

Conner McDermott couldn't wait. His girlfriend, Elizabeth Wakefield, was going away for the weekend and he was about to score major brownie points with her. Except, standing there in front of Big Mesa high school, he was already missing her.

Conner stared in Elizabeth's huge aqua eyes. They were filled with worry. He felt complete joy, despite the fact that Elizabeth, Jessica, and their older brother, Steve, were heading off to Colorado for a ski trip. Little did Elizabeth know that Conner would be making a cameo while she was up there. He smirked, planning on really milking Liz.

"Sweetie, it's just a week. We'll get through this! Come on, cheer up."

Conner propped Liz's drooping chin up with his forefinger. Suddenly remembering his plan, Conner slid his finger out of underneath her chin.

"It's all cool. You'll miss me and I'll see you in a week." Conner pecked Elizabeth's cheek, and stepped backwards.

Elizabeth felt her lips tremble. She threw her arms around Conner and hugged him tightly. "I'm going to miss you so much." She whispered in his ear. She felt him nod and drag himself away from her.

"Chill, baby. The week will be over soon. Now, go get your sister and have fun on the trip! Tell Jess that I'll miss her." Conner said with a wink. With that closing remark, Conner strutted towards his car.

Elizabeth groaned. Was she loosing him after such a short time? Elizabeth didn't know what to think, and she desperately wanted to analyze the whole thing with Jessica, but Jessica was going through her own problems. With all the time she had spent dealing with her own problems, she hadn't been a very good sister.

That was why she had begged her parents to send them on this trip. It would be time for the two girls to bond. To remember why they loved being sisters and best friends. Elizabeth smiled and pushed the class door open that led to Big Mesa.

Now, if only she could find Jessica at the dance thing she was at...

Jessica sat in the middle of Big Mesa's gym, sweat glided down from a loose strand of her hair, curled around her ear, and slid down her neck. She didn't mind. After making the switch from cheer leading squad to captain of the dance team, Jessica had been feeling a lot more relaxed.

Except there was still that one piece missing. Having dance almost every day of the week and the excitement of working at Big Mesa and left Jessica with any barely time at all to think about what was missing. Nothing seemed to work out for her anymore. There was something she wanted so badly she ached at night, and she didn't even know what it was.

Elizabeth pushed the door open to the gym and grinned. Jessica was standing up slowly, talking to one of the girls. When she saw Liz, her face brightened.

"Liz!" She squealed, running across the gym. The hugged despite Jessica's sweatiness.

"I'll be ten minutes and we'll be out the door!" Jessica exclaimed. At the same time the twins looked at each other and smiled.

This is going to be a great trip, they thought in unison.
