Falling Into Place

Greg McMullen groaned and rubbed his eyes with two balled up fists. He sat up slowly, pushing his comfortable sheets off of his body. Greg looked over at his roommate, Jeremy Aames, who was doing basically the same thing. Greg still couldn't believe their coaches were making them wake up at 6 AM on a vacation! On top of that, the three football teams were assigned roommates from opposing teams. It wasn't that Jeremy Aames wasn't a great guy or anything, Greg would have just liked it better his bunkmate to be someone he knew. Greg sighed. Yet, there was something else that was even worse than the last two reasons he was upset. That was, there were no girls on this trip. No sexy ski bunnies to hang out with. Just guys. Greg groaned at the thought.

"Hey, I feel the same way, man." Jeremy said, glancing over at Greg to smirk. "No girls..." Jeremy shook his head.

Greg laughed. "I know. How am I supposed to live without 'em?"

The guys finally struggled out of bed. It was going to be one long day.

Conner glanced down at the directions he had gotten from mapquest.com These better be right, he grumbled to himself. He didn't want to screw up his surprise visit to Elizabeth.

He knew that she and Jessica wanted to spend time together, so on the fourth night he would come to visit Elizabeth. He felt it would be only fair, considering how Jessica had been acting a little off the level lately.

Conner smiled to himself, this was going to be a good experience, he thought.

Jessica stretched her arms over her head. After taking a deep, cleansing breath, she dropped her arms to her sides. She smiled to herself. It was good to be able to work out in this state of the art gym. That was probably why all these football guys were coming, she thought. There was a huge mat, every workout machine possible, and many other things which Jessica hadn't even noticed yet.

Jessica jogged across the mat where she had been stretching and leaned over next to the CD player which the gym had provided. She thumbed through the titles in her CD case and finally decided that listening to her mixed CD would be the best idea. Jessica walked over to the corner of the mat and waited for the chorus of "Ex-Girlfriend" by No Doubt.

She took a few deep breaths and just as she was about to take off for the stunt she was about to pull a gasp stopped her in mid-prep. She looked up, startled. There, right in front of her were the three football teams promised.

Greg felt his heart stop. "Jessica?" He whispered to himself. Jessica smiled shyly at the hundred plus teenagers who stared at her.

Greg looked at the guys surrounding him. The fellows from Palisades High stared in shock and a few looked at Greg uncertainly. The Big Mesa football players had their tongues sticking out and the Sweet Valley guys seemed to sneer with distaste.

"Look, it's the slut." Will Simmions muttered under his breath.

Greg jerked around, grabbing Simmions by his chest and slamming him into the nearby wall, rage seeping through his veins. "Don't you ever say that, SImmions. Never." Greg hissed.

"Yeah, Will. What happened? I thought you said all that stuff about Jessica was a lie." Aaron Dallas scoffed. A few other Sweet Valley guys glared at Will.

"Well, I, um." He stammered. Greg dropped Will and turned back to Jessica, her innocent smile pressed into his heart. How in the hell would he be able to tell her about Christian?
