This book is great! If you have ever had one of those friends who is crazy, unpredicatble, fun loving, sweet, daring, and exciting, or if you are like that and you have a best friend, you already know that those types of friends usually end up being the best.

This book is about two girls who are complete opposites. It starts off in the 1990's when the more "normal" friend is invited to her more "daring" best friends wedding...to the normal friends ex-boyfriend. The book then flashes back to the late 60's and early 70's. The more normal friend is asked by her eight year old school mate (the daring friend) to go with her to "her island" for the summer. The normal friend has never even spoken to this girl before. But eventually she accepts and they go. And they continue to go each summer until they are seventeen.

This book tells about their lives during those summers. The two girls truly become summer sisters. This book is amazingly sweet and poignant. I promise you, ! you will not be able to put it down. Beware, though. It's a long one. I think it's about 500 pages.
