News:

- We have added a second guitarist!!! Welcome aboard, Matthew Jordan, former member of the often-chided-by-the-hg's band Counter!!! He kicks both Brian and my asses at guitar!!!  The first official show with Matt will be January 16th at the Great Barrier Reef, but who knows, he may make a guest appearance a little bit before then! :)

- There WILL be a cassette release come January 99!!!  Y2K Blues will include 8 or 9 songs, mostly the old timey favorites of ours!!!

- Concrete and Cornfields Vol. 2 will be released mid December, at the price of 8 dollars.  We will be playing two of the release party shows for it, one at Pizza Works, January 9th, and one at the Voodoo Lounge, formerly known as the Great Barrier Reef (no, not Austrailia) a 21-and-over show, 2 floors, 1,000 on each floor (!) in Bellvue, IL (well, possible...I highly doubt that there will  be that many people there!) on the 16th.  You can pick up the CD at those shows for a meager 6 bucks, both are 3 dollars to get in.

- We are slated to be on ANOTHER CD compilation, this one done by Peoria ska king Tim Beck!  This is VERY preliminary, but I would expect to have bands such as Ham, the Psychodelics, and others in the pop and punk vein on this one!  Stay tuned!

Hello hello,  welcome to my The Hydrogen Geeks page!  That's us in that picture up there, From left to right:  Me, Chris Hickman (Gomer Spice) on guitar, vocals, Brian Gosack (Goat Spice) on guitar, vocals, former drummer Alex Rhoades (he doesn't get a nickname because he's not with us anymore) on drums, and Sean Urich (Fat Mongoloid Spice) on bass.  Not pictured is brand-spankin-new member Matt Jordan, who from this day foward will be Counter-Spice!!!This is a pic of us live from the Franciscan Recreational Center 5/16/98, our first show! Not pictured is brand-spankin-new member Matt Jordan, who from this day foward will be Counter-Spice!!! If you want more pictures, contact Brian at goatsac@aol.com. I say this page is semi-official because there is another HG4 (what to call us for short) web pages, its URL is:

Anyway, back to info about us, we're a four piece out of East Peoria and Washington of which the core three members, Chris, Brian, and Sean have been together a year, and with the acquisition of second guitar Matt Jordan, we are going places baby!  There have been a lot of interesting experiences, as we've had our share of problems with equipment, drummers, money, etc., for sure!  Not to mention promotors, drunken and/or high fans, and whatever else that can happen to a band who's largest live show audience is 200 (so far!) We had a slightly above mediocre demo that we put out in late January 98, mediocre mainly because no one had any musical ability, no one knew the songs, we hadn't played together too much yet, so we decided to do a tape!  We are in the process of putting the final touches on our next tape, an EP entitled "Y2K Blues," to be released in Early January.  There's not much more to tell in the general info area of us, so vist these kewl THG links!  Our sound has been described as "That old school Nirvana sound with a poppy punk edge," but I like my description a little better, which is, Nirvana covering Weezer, after listening to Led Zepplin's BBC sessions CD over and over again for 48 hours straight.  However you would describe us, we're basically you're straight ahead rock band that's a little bit different, influenced by grunge, blues, arena-rock, Beavis and Butthead, the Simpsons, and anything else you can think of that adds to the cynicism of the Youth of America.
