The first story
For me it was about four months ago, as I was staying in my car in the fair city of CARPENTERSVILLE.
I would often stay by the park. I thought of starting a paper and calling it the Bicycle path free press. Later when it got colder, I moved to the Elgin area. One night when I was staying at P.A.D.S. another gentleman ,started talking to me about a friend an himself thinking of starting a paper. This was in the same line of thought that I’ve been in for awhile.
So I agreed to have morning coffee at Mac Donald’s to talk an perhaps put something together. We came up with a name, what we wanted to do with it, And how we would do it.
That night we took our thoughts to several people , an to our surprise it was received with good favor. We also knew that it would not be easy, being homeless and no funds to think about. This task could not happen over night. That’s how all this started to take shape. The three of us will put stories in an learn the hard way ,how to run a small paper.
WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT ? By R.J.
Trinity news will be a paper , written and produced by the homeless Community .
About how we have to survive in this new age. Stories about individuals in our community. Giving the reader a better understanding on how we have to live. We hope to show the creativeness of our people. By displaying poems, art, creative writing and reporting. Want Adds that not only list jobs for the homeless.
But list people and what work they can do so they can obtain jobs. TRINITY NEWS
(1) Will sell space for ads. This we hope will pay for the printing cost of the paper.
(2) Each paper will sell for TWENTY FIVE CENTS. A percentage will go into a fund to help our fellow residents.
Trinity News is a paper that shows that we need to get things done, an the keys to obtain it. The homeless people have the solution to their problems. But have failed to get the tools to obtain it. With this paper we hope that lots of homeless people will get a fresh start, to get their lives on the right path.
With a little help from US ( THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY )
And a little help from the Churches (GODS COMMUNITY )
Then A little help from the people (WORKING COMMUNITY )
The problems will at least start to end. With GODS help...
Also we will be able to began answering some of your questions about us. To bridge that river called understanding. An perhaps together , work to make this country whole again.!
Christmas story under a News agency’s nose...

It was before thanksgiving when I appeared to be in the right place , at the right time. But on this night. There was a new security person. Small framed thin figure of a woman. And she seemed okay. I approached the door and she let me in. And I had passed the desk as I always done. When I heard this little voice say. ”Sir, it appears that you failed to sign in”. I tried to explain my position without giving out my true reason for being there . She listened ,then demanded me to leave or she would summon the police.
Of course I left, she seemed to be very serious. So I went out to my car and sat. Thinking how it was so easy getting past those other security personal , and this one being so different. In fact I’ve been in and out so many times , most people think that I actually work there. So I thought that there is got to be a story here somewhere. And I watched.
Every night that she worked I watched. And I started noticing things. Small things at first. That turned into bigger things latter.
First I noticed , when she would walk people to their cars. How her face showed a real discomfort in the cold. And how quickly she would make it back inside. Then when those vans and trucks came in how hard it was for her to lock the gate back. ( I know how hard it is to lock that gate. You have to hit that lock real hard to lock it.)
In fact , I seen how some of the employees treated her. I had heard how three ladies blocked her way to do her key rounds. In fact one of them actually tried to provoke a fight with her. But she stayed her ground. And kept doing her job.
She would even do work that maintenance should have done. (Spreading salt on the sidewalk. )
She even was seen helping a driver unload a van. I’m sure she did these things on her own. I’d say a very professional employee.
I noticed that she seemed to be in pain. Especially when she went outside. Then I noticed the manor she took in her food. This got me to do some deep checking.
This path took me to see a doctor friend of mine. I told this doctor what I had observed. And the doctor told me that she might have , T.M.J.
(TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDER )
And the symptoms are, headaches , aching or stiff neck, aching or stiff shoulders, backaches ,earaches, ear fullness, ringing in the ears, or pain associated with the ears, jaw pain, popping or clicking in the jaw joint, facial pain, numbness in the fingers and toes, vertigo dizziness, undiagnosable tooth pain.........
Now ! it appeared clear.
When she walked all those people to there cars , and unlocked that gate, or doing her outside key rounds. She was in unbearable pain. When she did her inside rounds. Going up the stairs gave her pain and dizziness. Going from the warm to the cold computer room gave her more pain. Then we might ask? WHY DID SHE LIKE HER JOB ? AND FUNCTION THROUGH THIS PAIN ? When she received additional pain.
Because a few days before Christmas they let her go, with out explanation..
And now its plain to see the reason she was working ,was to get her hospitalization and the money for the mounting bills to get this all corrected. She appeared to be very independent ,the type of person that wants to do it on her own with, no outside help. And to be let go just before the Christmas holiday..
With out an explanation.
I can only hope for .Where ever you are my friend, my heart and prayers are with you on this special time of year. Why I’m Homeless.. By C . M . De Simone..
I’d say part of the reason why I’m homeless is because of the way that life has treated me and the way I treated life.
See , the reason why I’m homeless is simple , I went to military school most of my life and went to the service afterwards and was dropped like a bad habit .
I had barely enough saved up to support myself and couldn’t get a job right away to be able to get an apartment and it did not work .
So I tried to locate friends and family and nobody would help so I came to Illinois found an old friend he let me stay for a short While and gave me a job with him and it didn’t quite work so he kicked me out and pointed me into the right direction , that was three years ago and I’m just started to make a difference in my life .
For some people it takes longer than others but I’m almost half way their.....
WE ARE USING THIS SPACE TO SAY.... Thank you ! To all those soup kitchens that has helped us all those past years and into the coming year.
MONEY SITUATIONS BY JASON .N. BOURNE....
Let me throw a situation at people in general. You have a job that you take pride in and every time you go to the local homeless hangout .
After you get there you take your jacket and pack full of stuff and walk up in line to give your order , receive it , pay for it and go sit down .
A few of other homeless people ask you for some money . So you get fed up and throw your tray and say “Take it “
And they do ! MORAL OF THIS STORY IS ...The homeless people are split into two ways . The ones that work and the ones that don’t
Some of the ones who don’t work try to get money off of people who do work and they get agitated . After helping them for so long I have realized something’s cannot be replaced after helping for so long........

My Mask
Please don’t believe the mask I wear I act so smooth like I don’t care .
But that’s because I bravely hide the fears that linger deep inside .
I laugh and joke & wear a smile silently screaming all the wile .
My anger grows behind the mask I pray & hope that you won’t ask .
To find out who is really me to question how I really feel .
I may act tough, controlled , & strong .
I wear this mask the whole day long .
I may act timid , weak & shy and ask myself , just “WHO AM I” ?
I do not know, at least today I’M searching....
Longing for the way.
For me to find a better life Leave in the past my pain & strife .
So , for today I need my mask for strength to tackle this great task .
But don’t believe all that you see

HOW TO Become Depressed and Miserable !

8 ) Don’t forgive yourself for anything .
9 ) Isolate yourself --- avoid those who care about you .

JUST ANOTHER DAY..
The winter is here and it’s Sunday ,
Up by six and out by seven ,
Minds are a ticking, game plans we’re a picking .
WE ALL LOVE SUNDAY’S OVER ALL !!
Walking in the freezing air ,
in fifteen minutes we’ll be there .
And six times that we’re on our way again .
WE ALL LOVE SUNDAY’S OVER ALL !!
Seven hours to go with no real place to warm up our toe’s .
Sunday’s soup is the next stop on our list .
For the warmth it’s a bliss.

With three hour’s more to go,
and the night air cooling more ,
the thought of seven comes racing with every step .
Finally the time is here ,
as your counting every minute at the door .
Hearing footsteps coming close ,
get you thinking of the warmth .
Your mind shuts out the throbbing freezing pain .
