"Happy Easter, Happy Spring"
By Joyce

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY
I said, a prayer for you today
I know that God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart
although he spoke no word.

I did not ask for wealth or fame
I know you would not mind
I asked to send treasures
of a far more lasting kind.

I asked him to be near you
at the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings
and friends to share your way.

I asked for happiness for you
in all things great and small
But it was for his loving care
I prayed the most of all.

Sad week for some
By Richard J. Faykosh
We are sad for the news of another
homeless death that could have been
stopped by a city that is known as the
American City. Charlie Clark was found
floating in the river. Yes he was known
to have a drinking problem. But when your
homeless it's not at all hard to fall into
this rut. Infact, it’s a lot harder not
falling into this rut. When there is little
help in the GREAT AMERICAN CITY. There is not
much I can tell you about Charlie except he is
now part of a list of homeless deaths
in this GREAT AMERICAN CITY,
ELGIN should be known for not taking
care of its own. Any ideas Or comments to this article

STORY ABOUT ONE OF OUR HOMELESS
By R.J.
After a few times of doing this they just
moved out with out anyone knowing. Darn!
Why would they do that? Perhaps they did
not like the police out side the door all
the time.

So this ended any drug dealing that may be
going on. But there were still other problems
that seemed to keep growing. One was that
I was working at a job that did not pay well.
The other was that people I rented to at
times could not pay rent because of a pile
of reasons. This cut into house payments,
electric bills, gas bills, to the point that
some months one or the other would not get paid.
Well the only bright side was that I had
put an ad in the paper in the find someone part.
I got a caller in the first week and took
this person out. But it just was not what
either of us was looking for. The second week
I got another caller and we also went out.
And that ended out like the other. So I thought
that the next time I would do it very different.
I would talk to this next person for a week
before we would go out. And that is what I did
with the next caller.

Here I was about ready to lose my home and
talking to a lady over the phone with some
kind of hope that everything would work out.

Well it did and didn't work out. The house
I was loosing, The lady and I were getting
closer. I never realized how close we would
become.

Well after a week of calling and talking
to her over the phone we decided to have a
date and our first meeting. The day before
the date I went to the florist and picked up
a plant and a rose. The next morning after I
got off work at 7:am I drove to her place to
pick her up. I took the plant to the door
with me. That she put on the table and left with me.

We first went to my adopted son's place to
finish up some business that was needed to
get done. Then we went to breakfast at
city limits. After a great Breakfast we
headed to my house so I could get a shower
and get dressed for the rest of our date.
We were to meet another couple there that
was to go with us to St. Charles
to the boat show. She received a rose
and got to meet my dog Abe for
the first time. The couple did not show
only the lady because her boy friend had to
work. And she did not want to miss
the boat show. So it was okay that I drove
the three of us to the boat show. We stopped
off and I got her another rose. So she had
two roses so far. And the date was just beginning.

POEMS OF THE STREET
POEM # ONE
To A Brighter Future For Us!

By Joyce 3/31/04

Seeing sun rays in a distance
As they flow to earth
Reminds me of days past
Where Christ Walked this land.

Seeing rain falling in a distance
As it touches earth
Reminds me of days past
Where Christ walked this land.

Seeing rainbows stretch fourth
As it glows in the sky
Reminds me of days past
A halo around Christ's head.

Seeing clouds float
across the sky
Reminds me of days past
When Christ arose into the sky.

Seeing Lightning
In the dark clouds come to earth
Reminds me of days past
When Christ died on the cross.

To a brighter Future for us.

POEM # TWO
I have !

By Richard Faykosh 1/24/04

I have seen the rising of the son,
And have understood,
It’s awakening.
I have seen the fall of the towers,
And like everyone else,
Cried in shocking pain.
I have seen the homeless,
Eating out of dumpsters,
Feeling their hunger.
I have seen the rifts of time,
As history was being made,
Yet I’ll see more to come.
I have endured,
I have Witnessed,
I have been part,
I have stepped forward,
To make a difference,
Because it’s all been needed.
THANK GOD!
