People in charge need to go:
By Richard J. Faykosh
Another year is passed, and there is still problems steaming from Carpentersville to Elgin.
The Carpentersville board members have truly forgot who voted them into place except for one new person that was placed there by popular vote among board members.
A tax hike? What is this I am hearing? For what?
More money for you clowns to do your job when you have failed to complete the task that you have promised to complete. What about the street lights that are needed in areas where there is hard core crime. Better yet why not light up the whole city, Boltz Road. Why can’t we get a city planner that will stay more then a month?
Is it that the city manager has put so much restrictions on the position that no one really wants it?
Is that why we keep paying people to do the job, then they take the money and run like hell?
What if we voted to get all new people that can do the job instead of saying that they will?
Smile and put the money in their pockets like the carpetbaggers of old. Or, like our last city manager.
Is this administration a bust also?
With there pushing out the true good people out, that really wanted to do the right things for the city's growth. Not to inhance there pockets.
People of Carpentersville, I do believe that you have been made a fool once again. When the city manager does his nasty work behind closed meeting doors! What underhanded plans are being put together?
And who will be paying for those plans? Why you! The over burdened taxpayer.

Now Elgin is not much better!

With all of the underhanded going on. City counsel members not doing what they should be doing, but getting themselves into power trips and ego problems.
Perhaps its time to clean house again and get rid of the dead wood. And get in some people that will do things right. Because this last bunch has done nothing but build a very expensive Recreation Center that not only cost the taxpayers money but also, you need to spend more to use it.
I thought that the Recreation center was to get children off the streets and into something positive? This is not what I want my money to go for. To have to spend money, then to use it, spend more?
And we all know that the casino is starting to dry up. Should we not have put some of that cash into some kind of account so it would grow if we need it for some kind of disaster.
Then, the city can not even find a good city planner. Because for some reason no body want's to come to the All-American City.

No! I really think that Elgin and Carpentersville needs a new outlook. And an whole new, from the mayor/city manager to the entire board of directors. Let’s cut the fat in 2003. Elect new people with real vision

STORY ABOUT Doris, One OF OUR HOMELESS

By R.J.

But he would only get more and more angry. And as the weeks went by there was more and more anger. I think that he was just angry because he could not find the answers to the problems that they were having. He really did not want Doris to go to work because he felt that he could come up with what was needed. And his pride was in the way. But when it became time to pay the bills or when they sat together trying to solve their money problems. And once again Doris would suggest that she should go to work. And he would come home from drinking and he would abuse her more and more. To the point that the drinking and problems were mounting along with the abuse. Doris was told by those that knew what was going on, to get out of that place. But Doris felt that things would get better and things would be as they were before. And that leaving would not end anything. She was still very much in love with her husband. She refused to accept the fact that his abuse would not end just because of her love for him.

And that it would only take some very important decisions from the abuse in continuing. But when these things happen it seems nothing is done until one something serious happens. Like someone getting hurt or killed. Or when the danger for one or the other is unbearable. People get hurt very badly when they wait for things to change for the better. Sometimes one must act before the problems become harmful. (TO BE CONTINUED).

POEMS OF THE STREET
POEM # ONE
Thoughts of our lord

BY JOYCE

STANDING AND WATCHING AS THE FLUFF CLOUD PASSES OVER.
AS WINTERS COVERS START TO VANISH.
EVEN THE AIR SEEMS TO BE ANEW.
THEN THERE’S MEMORIES OF YOU.
STANDING AND WATCHING AS THE SNOW MELTS AWAY.
AS SPRINGS WARMTH CHARMS THE GROUND.
EVEN THE FRESHNESS OF THE AIR TOUCHES FEW.
THEN I WISH TO BE ONLY WITH YOU.
STANDING AND WATCHING IN FIELDS OF CLOVER.
AS WINTERS COVERS BEGAN TO CLASH.
AND THE AIR I BREATHE WITH A TOUCH OF DEW.
I ONLY WANT TO BE HELD BY YOU.
STANDING AND WATCHING AS THE MONTH TURNS TO MAY.
AND THE SPRINGS CHARMS I HAVE FOUND.
AS I SEE HIM WALK CLOSER AND SEE THE HEW.
AND YOUR LOVE COVERS ME TOO.

POEM # TWO
A new Commitment in him
By Joyce Prahl

As we walk in the hours of darkness,
We fail to see beyond the chill,
Stumbling in the tracks of those left looking,
Hoping that there is a thing called hope.
As we venture to open doors locked and rusted,
With only our meager strength,
In a faith that it will all disappear,
On his promise of everlasting love.
As we stride in our endeavors,
With only our weak intentions,
That we can become equal to each other,
For the light of creation to shine upon us.
As we gaze into all that has been lost,
Trying to see beyond the darkness,
Then catching a glimpse of light,
Renews our souls promise to GOD.
