KENT BALDWIN for Trustee
By Richard J. Faykosh
On February 22/4p to 6p At Old Country Buffet Springhill mall I as well as others were present to meet Senator Rauschenberger, At Kent Baldwin's Fund raiser. I made it quite early because Kent himself picked me up. We set things up for the fundraiser sat and ate as Kent and I talked. Kent had a display board with pictures on it. First set of pictures was of Boarded up houses in the area, that could be used as drug dealing places/ hangouts/ places that children could get hurt / And most of these places were left unlocked. These places need to be better secured, torn down, sold, or leveled.
There were pictures of curb areas that had not seen a cleaning crew in months. These raises the question of why isn't the city streets people doing their job instead of sitting somewhere sleeping. Then there were pictures of streets showing signs of repairs. Once again the problem is with the city streets people. Crosswalks need to be repainted around school areas. I think this also falls onto the city streets Dept. These are all things visible that need to get done and it is not getting done.
Senator Rauschenberger did arrive for a short time and those that were not there on time missed him. Kent showed Senator Rauschenberger the display board and explained as I have already done so above. Senator Rauschenberger told Kent that if he wins a spot on the trustees he would do what ever he could to bring about a grant to help in the funding of such an adventure to clean up and help Carpentersville in its quest. I asked Senator Rauschenberger about some past bills that did not pass and if he could see them being returned to be voted on. One of these being the T.M.J. bill that would help those suffering from T.M.J could get assistance in getting help in payment of treatments. This would help thousands of effected women in the state. Kent then delivered a very motivating speech.
I feel that I can help make the right choices and changes for the good of the town, in a timely manor, in the past two years nothing has been finished or accomplished.
I have been active in the community for the last three years to make this a safer place to live with some success. Getting the board to stop arguing and start talking so they can perform their appointed task in a peaceful way. That would benefit the citizens of Carpentersville.
I have worked hard in things that I saw needed to be done. Like the flashing lights where a Carpentersville child lost her life. I saw a need and with others voiced our concern. The business at the trustee meetings has become a private mater between employee and office. When it cost $10,000.00 for an investigation that the taxpayers paid for when it should have been paid for by the parties wanting the investigation. That money could have went in making our streets safer with more traffic control and not making a residential street a highway. Police response time could be improved. Places for the young people to spend their time except in the streets. Roads and sidewalk repair are important but making sure the company that is hired is not wasting time or money is also important. Then the wage increases are the last things that should be considered at this time. Then there are streets in this city being used as a drag strip and could cause some real injuries to everyone. Streets need to be looked at and more stop signs may need to be added.
Then Kent was asked" What Judy Sigwalt that has spent four years of being on the board done to fix the West Side?" And the answer is pretty plain. There has not been much done in that area. Infact the people that this reporter has talk to is pretty upset in the way the area looks. Kent replayed that those questions need to be asked of Judy. The question was asked about the $200.000 in last years budget that was not used (enmarked for east side sidewalks) and where did it go? Kent said that is a question he is asking himself. And he is also wondering about $250.000 for eastside street repaveing. And that the Village needs to make eastside revitalization priority by approving plans in a timely manor with that Kent walked around talking to people that had questions and request.
I felt that Kent really wants to make a difference in the position of Trustee and is willing to work hard at making a difference in Carpentersville. Kent wishes that more people would get involved in their Trustee meetings each month. Because it's plain that those now there can not see beyond the blinders on their face.

Thank you and together we can make Carpentersville better.

Who should you vote for?
By Richard Faykosh
How much money will be spent on more police?
How much money will be spent on making streets into roads?
How much money will be spent on traffic control devises?
How much money will be spent when the trustees can’t fix the problems now in Carpentersville?
And the cost and expense of another link from Route 31 to Route 25, The City’s around Carpentersville do not want another link in their cities.
Why should we want to father the burden?
Lets look at the Candidates: Robert Whitehouse:
Is in support of a bridge crossing instead of fixing the problems the village has now. Judy Sigwalt: Is in support of a bridge crossing instead of fixing the problems the village has now.
Linda Ramirez Sliwinski
Is not sure that a crossing bridge is needed. And thinks the money should go to make the village better. Calgarey Penn Is in support of a bridge crossing instead of fixing the problems the village has now.
Denise Nalysnyk
Is in support of a bridge crossing instead of fixing the problems the village has now.
James Frost
Is in support of a bridge crossing instead of fixing the problems the village has now.
Kent Baldwin
Thinks that money can be spent more wisely. To better the village, Gosh I do believe here is some one that has a brain to better things instead of spending foolishly on something that this city should not do. If a bridge is needed then build it somewhere else, That is what your neighboring city’s want Carpentersville to do because they do not want the problems it will bring and the expense.

STORY ABOUT ONE OF OUR HOMELESS
By R.J.

We might Ask! Why is it that once you become homeless its so easy to become homeless again? Well its my experience that we as people do not realize how close each and every one of us is to being homeless. If you really looked at yourself and your spending you would soon discover where you stand. You should have enough money in the bank to pay all your bills for two months. So how many of you can say that you have that set aside?
Now! Consider this? What would you take with you upon loosing everything? Remember everything you take should be in what we use to call a barracks bag or duffel bag. And that could still be too much if you have to carry it with you wherever you go.
Where W ill you turn to get help in the first few hours. Because if you trust the wrong person you could loose what ever you do have left.
Where will you go to stay warm, sleep or just live? Friends, family, church, or streets.
How!
Will you get yourself back on your feet?
Well that question is answered by many ways. If you have lost everything including your job, then you're in a pretty bad place. But if you still have your job. You just might be in a better light then most. But if you have lost the job also then you're really sunk. And it could be years for you to get out of the mess. Yes years, because with your money you make each week will go faster then you make it, remember as soon as your off work where are you going to go to sleep. Most hotels Cheap ones will charge $45.00 a night.
Now for a week of a place to stay will be $315.00 a week. That is just a room. Then you need to eat and any phone calls will cost. And if your trying to save money to get a sleeping room or small apartment you will need to save up some serious cash. This will take you a long time to get done at this rate. By then you will most likely loose it again anyway. Next month:

POEMS OF THE STREET
POEM # ONE
As our lives

BY R.J Faykosh 2/2/03

AS OUR LIVES TOUCH
I FIND THAT I NEED
TO PROTECT YOU
IN EVERY WAY I CAN
AS OUR LIVES ENTANGEL
IN THE BLISS OF LOVE
TO BECOME JUST ONE
IN EVERY WAY
AS OUR LIVES GET OLDER
I FIND IT HARD
TO DO THINGS OF OLD
IN EVERY WAY
BUT TO PROTECT YOU
IS PART OF LOVING YOU
IN EVERY WAY

POEM # TWO
She Walks
By R. J. Faykosh 2/2/03

SHE WALKS OUT THE DOOR
AND THE GLOOM
JUST INTENSIFIES
AS SHE WALKS OUT
THE TOW DOGS
BECOME SENTERY'S AT GUARD
AS SHE WALKS OUT
IN SILENCE THEY AWAIT
TO THE OPENING OF THE DOOR
BUT WHEN SHE RETURNS
EVERYTHING BECOMES NORMAL
AND ALL IS AT PEACE.
