TRINITY NEWS
MAY EDITION 2003
Well, a lot of people have wanted to hear this story so here it is. Our homeless person featured in this series of paper will be yours truly.
Yes! I was homeless when I moved to Elgin from Chicago. Because I was living at the place of business, being a new business in the area we could not afford the luxury of high wages. I guess that is why the place went bust with in a year.
Other established business’s that were in the area for years got the business. So after the place folded I remained staying in the shop yet I worked for another boss that was in the same area. I thought of this as being lucky. Well after a bit we were doing better (business wise) and I was able to afford a sleeping room. I lived in a room of an elderly lady’s house. This was fine because now I could get things done that I could not get done before. And I just felt better about myself.
Then I moved to a different place. It was over on Gifford Road. I lived there for a long time. Infact I started to work for the landlord for six years. The deal we made at first was not bad but as time went on it became a real bust. I would help him keep up on maintenance and repair of his 15 houses. I was on 24-hour call. I made $125.00 a week but had to pay my rent of $75.00 a week plus my own taxes. Any thing else I wanted I had to pay for. It was ok until I figured out that I was working for only $.33 per hour.
This made me feel real bad that he would only think that I was worth only this small amount. And he would depend on me to get the jobs done and in most cases they were done and completed on the time he wanted. And I never failed to get to the call quickly when he would page me. A friend had his boss over one night and they were talking about Security, Being a security Guard, at $5.00 per hour, for 40 hours a week. This is when I figured out what I was really getting paid.
So I thought that I would take a weeks vacation and try this other job out for a week. To see if I would like doing this also or instead, So the next day I told my boss that I was thinking of doing a week vacation. And He had no problem with it. So I took the following week off. Then I had my friend call his boss to tell him that I was in for the next week. We went to his office that day and got our uniforms and addresses of where we were to start the shift. It was nights so there was no problem and it was not far from my home.
I had been working two days when one morning my first boss came and knocked on my door. He wanted to know if it was true that I was working, and when was I going to tell him that I had quit. I explained that I was only doing this for a week to see if I liked it. And that I would have gave him plenty of notice. But he insisted on pushing me into a decision right then. This I did not want to do. Because at this point he was making me angry and the choice would at this point go against him. But I did decide after he started to add pressure.
And I told him that I would no longer be his employee. He then told me that I needed to come up with 2 weeks rent with in a day or two. This would be impossible because they held back one week. And it would be three weeks before I got paid. He would not accept that as an answer. And told me that I had just better get myself another place. I told him that I would talk to him the next day. But there was no way for me to come up with the needed cash. So I ended up moving out of the building and on to the street. Until I got a pay check so that I could pay my rent. I would stay at different places every day. Since I worked nights it was easier to find a place to sleep during the daytime.
A park, By the river, anywhere I could set the car under a shade. After about three weeks I got my paycheck and I went back to see him. And my place was still open and he was very much cooled down. Even talked about me helping out when I was not working. (To be continued next month)

Now!
Has a Quarterbacks coach, And Richard Dent (THE SACK MASTER) is now a line coach. That in it self is great news, The Bears got from the first pick to the last the following:
DE Michael Haynes,
QB Rex Grossman (A young Bret Farve, That Green Bay Wanted),
Safety Todd Johnson,
DT Ian Scott,
DT Tron LaFavor,
WR Bobby Wade,
WR Justin Gage,
LB Joe Odom That Green Bay wanted),
RB Brock Forsey,
G Bryan Anderson ..
Now to see if these players will become what the Bears hope that they will become. Some should help right away; others will come along in time. Sports will be back later this year!

SILENT SHE SLEEPS,
AS I TURN MY SLEEPY HEAD,
TO AWAKEN AND SEE.
HOW WONDERFUL IT IS TO, HAVE HER IN MY LIFE.
SLOWLY I GET UP TO,
PASS INTO THE OTHER ROOM
TO NOT DISTURB THE,
SERINITY OF HER DREAMS.
THE LADY OF MY LIFE.
THE SUNSHINE OF MY DAY.
THE HAPPYNESS IN MY DREAMS.
THE ANGEL OF MY HEART.
WHAT WOULD I EVER DO?
IF IN LIFE WE SHOULD PART.
WHO WOULD PICK UP ALL OF,
THOSE BROKEN PIECES.
OR WOULD THEY JUST BE SWEPT AWAY?
Setting Watching,
As the rain falls down.
The small lakes on,
The street swell.
Rapid Rivers flow,
Down the curbs.
Washing away all that’s,
In its path.
Setting ,
Watching,
With head in hands.
Yet!
At my older age.
There’s many things,
That I still do not understand.
I will never understand it all.
So I need to just accept it.
As it is.
