Christmas Story:
By Richard J. Faykosh
It
was a few days before Christmas when a
friend and I were to meet at the Country
Kitchen for Breakfast. I had arrived early
seeing that it had snowed and knew that
traffic would be a real bear. I took our
regular table by the window looking out unto
the street. The waitress had just taken my
coffee order, and I had noticed that the
paper man had just completed his delivery.
So I went out to get my copy of the news. As
I walked out I almost bumped into this man
that seemed to have been out in the cold for
a while.

His shaggy beard had ice frozen all through
it and the stocking hat he wore was also wet
and frozen.

So I got my paper and as I walked back by the
man I asked if he could use a cup of coffee.
He said sure would as he picked up his small
duffel bag.

He came in and sat across from me. As I looked
at him his eyes seemed to twinkle. As he slowly
begin to settle into the seat. I called the
waitress over so that she could set him up a cup
of coffee on my tab. His clothes were rather
old in appearance and when he removed the hat his
hair was a bit long and oily.

Kind of new to the area are you? And he said,
yes, that he was just passing through town
when the storm hit. I mentioned that his bag
seemed a bit heavy. He told me that he sold
bibles for a living. And that is what he had in
the bag. So as we drank our coffee I started to
look at the bibles he had in the bag.

This is why the bag was so heavy. I picked out
one and asked him how much? He gave me the price
that I was glad to pay. Then he thanked me and
walked out he door. Just as my partner had
arrived for breakfast,

When he came up to the table he noticed the
bible. And mentioned that it was one nice
looking bible with the carved wooden cover.
I told him about the man that I bought it from.
And Joe said that he would be interested in
one of them also. I Told Joe that the man had
just left out the door and I was sure that he
could catch him quick enough.

But the man was nowhere to be seen.

So we went on and ordered Breakfast and enjoyed
our meal. As I was paying my check, I noticed
the bible salesman across the street.
So I walked over to tell Joe that the fellow
was across the street. But when I went to point
him out he was once again gone.

We left the after breakfast and went on our
own ways.

It had been a few hours as I was in a hardware
store picking up some needed bags of salt.

When I seen the Bible salesman again.
So I put the bags of salt in my car.
Looked up and once again he was Gone.
I walked over to the corner to see if I
could see witch way he had gone. But as I
got to the corner my foot kicked something.
Looking down was a wooden box with the most
wonderful bible I have ever seen.
With a note, For Joe,

I never have seen that guy again.
But every time Christmas comes around
I remember that day.

I’m glad that in my life I have always
gave to people rather then to receive.
I know it would put a smile on someone’s face.
And a nice warm feeling in your heart,

Any time of the year is a good time
not only Christmas.

That bible salesman must have been an angel,
because he had that peacefulness about him.
And he gave me more then a bible but a way
of life.

STORY ABOUT ONE OF OUR HOMELESS
By R.J.

I had lunch there and I went to the
library to get a library card. So when I
got there I had to list an address of residence.
This is one thing I did not have. So I gave the
Wayside Center address as that address to get
the card. But they told me that I could not use
that address. So I was stuck with out getting a
card to get into the computer Lab.

So I now have another task to over come.
To you this may not be a big thing. But when your
homeless little things become major problems.

So I went to pick up Joyce and we went about
our day. It's important to us to be together at
this time to just make decisions and things.
Because what we decide effects the both of us.
So if I'm not at work we are together doing
things together and such. Like going to Bingo
or a movie and such. (TO BE CONTINUED)

POEMS OF THE STREET
POEM # ONE
Winter Breeze:

By Richard Faykosh 11/2/04

Snow flakes are falling,
The wind is in a Howl,
Winter is calling,
And I am yelling Foul.
Snow drifts a forming,
As the wind blows,
In heavy raps I’m warming,
Wearing it in rolls.
Could be a winter breeze!

POEM # TWO
Family Cheer! :

By Richard Faykosh 11/2/04

Bells a ringing,
Turkeys in the pan,
People singing,
Doing as they can.
Table is set,
Everyone is in good cheer,
Even the house Pet,
Everyone is set so near.
Thanksgiving dinner! A family cheer
