How could you call Elgin All - American City?

By Richard Faykosh
How could you call Elgin All - American City ?
When in the past 30 years it has not built a program to assist in its own homeless. Put in a casino to build the cosmetics of a city that’s doing good, It spent so much on the cosmetics of the city it fails to do anything for the senior citizens or for the homeless.

The city is ramped with drug dealings and street gang welfare. When it offers nothing to assist its main problem. Aurora is the states, city of the year for breaking ground on its first state of the art homeless center. While Elgin has had 4 homeless death's in the past 7 years.

1st. Was a homeless man found frozen behind the Kentucky fried chicken Dumpster. 2nd was the homeless man (Sam) killed by a train as he was trying to get to his tent that served as his home. 3rd was the elder homeless man found frozen dead on a churches steps. 4th Was the homeless man found hung up in the trees off from the bike path that the police say was a suicide that no one really wants to investigate. Because it was a lone Spanish homeless man, Not any of these deaths were worth a homeless shelter. Or the care from a city called ALL AMERICAN CITY.

People have died on the streets when there is a city uncaring for its own. And one of those homeless deaths was an elderly man that had all of his waste collected in a bag. I'm very sure that the presentation was so great and that they were able to pull the wool over these out of towners in it. But I really think that there could have been a better choice. Like aurora that is doing things to help its residence. Including saving there long and suffering homeless community. In fact, Elgin hopes that their homeless goes to aurora to be part of that homeless center. But Elgin will fail in doing anything of benefit to help its own.

Elgin should be the scrooge of America. The national Civic League got really fooled this time. And they would be too embarrassed to pull the title from Elgin. So this makes me think that the National Civic League is just as disgusting as the city it awarded the title to. It’s a real disgrace to those homeless that has died in the city that does nothing to help the less unfortunate that the city spoon's from its negative planning of the city counsel. " NO! MUSIC FESTIVAL?"

By Joyce

Rich & I really enjoyed going to this every year. And we always had a good time.

We were looking forward to going this year also. But, I guess this year it’s not in the budget. With a little prayer perhaps next year we will be able to enjoy it.
It did help P.A.D.S out quite a lot, it seemed to always have a good turnout of people.
Any comments on this please E-mail me.

Thank You,
With Love Joyce

STORY ABOUT Saul,
One OF OUR HOMELESS
By R.J.
And leaving here would put them into not knowing. You need to know the area that you’re homeless in. Because you could end up dead. This is because some of the homeless was released from the county Jail and they do not have no where to go. Then there is those that were released from Elgin Mental health complex and these people end up not taking their med. because they have no money.

SPORTS / VIEWS/ Commits from Richard’s desk!

FOOTBALL Training Camp! DA! BEARS!
The left Tackle is still open. Merc Colombo has the most potential, but Bernard Robertson (a fifth round pick from a year ago) is #1 on the depth chart.

The Bears waived three NFL - Europe players and signed offensive tackle David Sherrod (6 foot 6, 305 LB) last signed with Oakland. The Bears have 89 players on their roster and must be down to 88 by July 26th.

POEMS OF THE STREET
Poem # 1
PLACES UNTOUCHED

6/18/90 BY R. J.

The breeze moving the leaves in the trees,
Making the shadows move to and thro,
How warm the sun feel alto,
Yet how cool is the breeze,
Tree laden with green, red,
and gold,
Seem to hasten me,
Birds feeding there young up high,
Oh!
How I wish I could fly,
Chipmunks an squirrels,
Running about,
How wonderful,
Don't pout,
The sound of the breeze through the trees,
As it pass my ears by,
The quickness makes me high,
Such places untouched by man,
Its not hard to understand,
That I feel for the land,
Lots of love to show,
Like the land I am too,
Look deep into these eyes,
And take this hand,
I to need you to understand.

Poem #2
I GUESS THERE'S A TIME

7/13/90 BY R. J.

I guess there's a time,
When you need some one,
And that need,
Is covered with desire.
I guess there's a time,
When you expect love,
from everyone,
And your need,
Is so great you hunger.
I guess there's a time,
When you starve for affection,
And you need that one person.
I guess there's a time,
When you grab at something,
And it slips through your grasp.
I guess there's a time,
When you reach for what you see,
And you find it never was there.
I guess there's a time,
When you dream,
of that true person,
And you know,
that there's a chance,
It may not exist.
I guess there's a time,
When you wish to put those feelings and needs in a bag,
And lock them all away,
I guess there's a time.
