On October 20, 1981, John and I
were married in Danville, IL. Into that
marriage we brought a combined total of
seven children, John--three daughters,
and me--a son and three daughters, all of whom
are "out of the nest" now and leading happy and
successful lives.
In October 1995, we hosted a family get-together at our new country home. It was a real success.
Attending were: John, Charlene, Tammi and Traci; David and his fiancee, Janelle; Kyle, Julie, Kylie, Lindsay, Joel and Kelsey; Alan, Christina, Alex and Christopher; Mike, Maria, Chelsea and Brianna; and Bobby and Terri. Missing was our grandaughter,Holly.
On Saturday, we had a big weiner roast and played silly games, including Musical Chairs in our new polebarn. Grandpa gave all the kids rides on the tractor and hayrides later in the evening. There was a Piņata filled with candy for the kids and they had a great time trying to break it.
On Sunday, we all went to Windows at Rend Lake for a great buffet lunch. Afterwards, we walked around the resort, visited and let the kids play at a playground there.
SECOND FAMILY GET-TOGETHER
Our second family get-together was held over Labor Day weekend, at our place, in early September, 1996. Attending were: John, Charlene, Tammi and Traci; David and his fiancee, Janelle; Kyle, Julie, Kylie, Lindsay, Joel and Kelsey; Alan, Christina, Alex and Christopher; and Mike, Maria, Chelsea and Brianna. Missing were Bobby, Terri and our grandaughter, Holly.
On Saturday evening, we had a cookout, then played games, and some of the kids danced the Macarena.
On Sunday morning, the kids broke the Piņata and then we all went to Giant City State Park Lodge for a not so impressive chicken dinner. After the meal, we had our picture taken en masse outside the lodge.
Some of us went on trails and some of the kids went through Fat Man's Squeeze. Some of the kids had cabins at the park and spent the night. Those of us who didn't, left early in the evening.
THIRD FAMILY GET-TOGETHER
Our third family get-together was held at our place, about the second weekend in August, 1997. Attending were: John & Charlene; David and Janelle; Kyle, Julie, Kylie, Lindsay, Joel and Kelsey; Alan, Christina, Alex and Christopher; Mike, Maria, Brianna and Travis; Terri W.; and Ed (Mike's dad), his fiancee, Judy and her son, Nick (all from Michigan). Missing were Tammi & Traci, Bobby W. and our granddaughters, Holly and Chelsea.
On Saturday we had a cookout and played games. The kids took turns trying to break the Piņata and then we just sat around and visited for a while.
On Sunday, we got together and went to Windows at Rend Lake for lunch. Afterwards, some of us went over to the college to watch the RC planes being flown.
