Mood: celebratory
Now Playing: a slow repeatable silence
Young Writers was such a blast this year--wonderful readings, great open mikes, much laughter and some tears. It has been my honor to see YWW grow and prosper. On to year 11!

The Young Writers Workshop is proud to announce the winners of the 2008 Younkin-Rivera Prizes for Young Writers.
In prose, the award went to Hannah Wilson of St. Joseph, IL for her story "The Most Boring Short Story Ever."
In poetry, the award went to Erin York of Raytown, MO for her poem "Bodies' Rain."
Don't worry if you didn't win--registration for the workshop continues until June 4, 2008.
It's so cold here in Carbondale, but we're busy planning for the 10th annual Young Writers Workshop.
This year, my assistant director is second-year fiction MFA student Josh Woods. Josh is a writer, editor, and graphic designer--in fact, Josh designed this year's YWW logo, which will be on our brochure and our t-shirts.
Looking forward to seeing everyone when there's so snow on the ground! Details about this year's YWW are at

While you are there, check out the guidelines for our national competition, the Younkin-Rivera Prizes for Young Writers.
Thanks,
Allison J., Director
