Live animals are dropped down chutes into a "bin" for pickup by Animal Control or Humane Societies. The bulidings look much like a shed, sometimes they are huge fenced in cages, one side for cats, one side for dogs.
Many of these drop bins have little to no shelter from the weather and there is no food or water.Small dogs, large dogs, shy dogs, aggressive dogs -- they all go in the same chute. I shouldn't have to paint a picture for you to realize what happens to shy, timid dogs when large aggressive dogs are thrown in on top of them. Same thing with cats and kittens. Tossed on top of each other without food or water in a strange place to do whatever they may.
Mind you there is generally no one there to supervise that dogs and cats are tossed down the right chute! I am unsure of the period of time it takes for the Animal Authorities to come pick up these animals but it is common knowledge than many inside the bins are dead. It isn't any wonder is it?
I can only imagine the ramifications of a cat or dog living through such an occurance. I would never believe it could ever be adopted out. The psychological problems it would forever endure.
This is not acceptable and must be stopped!!! Please, if you believe this should come to an end, join the "Put and End to Drop Bins" webring and spread the awareness!
