The Lion King

baby Simba I love this movie perhaps most because it evokes such a sense of innocence. It certainly borrows from Star Wars and other prior movies, and probably borrowed heavily from a certain Japanese movie. But Disney, as usual, pulls off a spectacular array of cartoon vistas, drama, songs, etc., that can be enjoyed, to use the cliche, by children of all ages.
Simba et. al I am certain that there are hundreds of Hollywood big-budget films that have been made with less thought than went into The Lion King. The story is really concerned with becoming a man (or adult), finding yourself, and other such issues that everyone must go through.

Even some of the bit players, especially Timon and Pumba, play their role with enthusiasm that draws in the audience. A fine feature all around. Perhaps if all movies were like this, we wouldn't live in such a violent culture.

Rated G for all audiences
