Star Wars is the first movie that I ever saw, as a four year old. So, of course, it had a great effect on me. However, its effects were felt throughout the world. Star Wars revolutionized the Science Fiction genre of the movie industry, not to mention the toy industry! For my generation, especially, this movie was The Movie, and we lived to see how it would all turn out.
One of the main themes that impresses me is that Luke passes from being a boy to being a man, and surpasses all of the challeneges therein. Of course, I also had to become a man before George Lucas ever came out with another movie! As a child, I had always ached for more of the series, yet never dreamed that it would come.
Looking back, some of the acting is weak, and the special effects are not up to today's standards. (Yet they are not that bad, for 20 years old!) But, to a four year old, it was as if another world had been opened up for perusal. It was like nothing ever seen before or since.
