Question: Hello, Sting. What are your thoughts on the return of Eric Bishop and Vince Russo? Cause the way I see it is that WCW is trying to make Vince Russo another Vince McMahon, which will not happen.
Sting: No, that's not what they're trying to do to Vince Russo. I feel very positive. For the first time in a long time, there is a light at the end of a tunnel.
Question: Hey, Sting! You are my all-time favorite wrestler! I was wondering, is there any chance you will go back to the rafters?
Sting: Thank you. Never say never, and just keep watching.
Question: Hey, Sting, have you ever thought about jumping ship to the WWF?
Sting: Over the years, there were a couple times that I was really close. But I have no plans to do that. I've got almost two years left on my contract with WCW, and I plan to finish up here.
Question: This is a question for Sting! Sting, you rule! And also, what do you think of the new blood?
Sting: Thanks again. I think that it is something that WCW needs, but we do have to sift through over the coming months and see who rises and who falls, who's got their head on and who doesn't.
Question: When is WCW going to get some recognizable theme music? It appears that all the music is heavy metal and has nothing to do with the character's "persona."
Sting: That's because there's a marriage between WCW and TommyBoy Records, and so I think WCW just took some of the songs and tried to match up lyrics and beats with some of the guys.
Question: Hey, Sting, I've been watching WCW since I was like 13 years old; I'm now 23 (10 years now). What was your favorite memory of wrestling thus far?
Sting: That would have to be '97 and '98, during the approximate 18-month period that the Crow-looking Sting character emerged and had a real edge and came out of ceilings and helicopters. I had a lot of fun doing that.
Question: Is there as much conflict as there appears to be on TV between the wrestlers?
Sting: Yes and no. But you know, there's change, and change is hard for people sometimes. But I believe that it is a positive change, a needed change.
Question: Do you do your own makeup? My friend won a pumpkin decorating contest at work, and she won first prize because she decorated it the way you wear your makeup. It won for the scariest.
Sting: Well, congratulations, and that's not the strangest thing I've ever heard. Yes, I do my own makeup.
Question: Hey, what influenced you to change your style into the Crow form? I really like the new sSting, but does the movie "Crow" have any influence towards your new character?
Sting: What influenced me was a group of people just bouncing around ideas, and the way wrestling was changing about that time. I needed to have more of an edge. And although there was nothing ever copied from "The Crow," there are similarities. I have always wanted to play a part in a Crow series or movie. That is the part of "The Crow," obviously! :)
Question: What do you find most exciting about professional wrestling?
Sting: The rush of the crowd! The actual in-ring experience, when the intensity in the ring and the crowd is at its peak.
Question: Sting, is your relationship with Lex Luger behind the scenes a good one, or do you not get along with each other?
Sting: No, we've been really close friends for 12 years, and we remain close friend to this day.
Question: Who are your three favorite wrestlers in WCW besides yourself, and why? PS -- you rule!
Sting: You know, I don't think I have any favorites, really, and just keep watching. And I really appreciate the "you rule" line! :)
Question: Sting, long-time fan. Why have you been moved down to the US Title when a year ago you were the heavyweight champ?
Sting: Because the World Title was already spoken for, story-line wise, and you know, I'll be up at that level again this year, for sure.
Question: Do any wrestlers from different federations try to lure you into their organization, since you are well known and talented?
Sting: No, because the wrestling world, for the most part, have knowledge of my multiyear contract with WCW.
Question: What is your fav movie?
Sting: I'd have to say that "Tombstone" is right up there!
Question: Do you really like Jimmy the King, or were you afraid that he would beat you up in the movie if you were not nice to him?
Sting: I was a *little* intimidated by him, and I knew that I had to be ready at any given moment. He turned out to be a nice guy.
Question: Hey, Sting. I'm from Buffalo, NY. We are a really big WCW town. I heard that Fall Brawl will be in Buffalo. Is that true, and do you know what kind of confrontations that you will be dealing with in the near future?
Sting: We're not really sure of the scheduling yet, but I hope so.
Question: What advice do you give to children that try to wrestle at home and act like the superstars?
Sting: That's a very good question, and thanks for asking. I would say to the parents, first of all, that they teach their children what is reality and what is not. What we do, as PROFESSIONALS, is entertainment! And we are PROFESSIONALS. Leave it to us. And that goes for anything else that you might see any professional do on or off TV. Leave it up to the pros.
Question: Sting, how do you think the new changes will affect the longtime wrestlers such as yourself, Flair, Sid Vicious, Hogan, etc.? Will the New Blood succeed in dealing out the older, wiser, more professional wrestlers?
Sting: I have every hope that it will be mutually beneficial, but it takes both sides working positively with no ulterior motives to be truly successful.
Question: Sting, what do you think about the tragic death of the late Owen Hart?
Sting: That's an obvious one. It was tragic and sad, and it was an eye-opener in a lot of ways. And any stunts like that ever done again should just be done with the best professionals, no matter what the cost, and extreme caution always taken.
Question: What would happen if you and the Legion of Doom teamed up?
Sting: Been there, done that! We're moving on with the New Blood. Ha ha ha!
Question: How many more years do you plan to wrestle?
Sting: At least two!
Question: Sting, if you could have any tag-team partner right now to help in the shake-up of WCW, who would it be?
Sting: That's a tough one. I really would have to think about that one. I really don't know.
Question: I have been a WCW fan for more than ten years and always enjoy attending a live event. I am curious to know, what was the most exciting thing about filming the new WCW movie?
Sting: I think actually seeing everybody, including myself, on the big screen. In the opening credits of the movie, they showed stills of the movies of the past and present, and they had a still of me diving off the top turnbuckle, you know, onto Goldberg, I think it was, and just that shot on the big screen was PRETTY KEWL!
Question: What was the deciding factor that made you choose the wrestling entertainment field? I would also like to know if there are any real rifts between the wrestlers due to advancements on the job?
Sting: Whew, I was at the sports arena in LA and in the middle of going through this wrestling camp, and saw Hogan and a lot of other wrestlers at the arena in front of 10,000 fans, and it got my interest! :) No, there are other rifts. It's the same ballgame that it's always been.
Question: Sting, how did you prepare for tonight's match-up?
Sting: I wrestled Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights to get warmed up!
Question: Is there a particular wrestler that you are close to?
Sting: Yes, there are a few -- Lex, Buff, Rick and Scott Steiner.
Question: Why have you made a habit of disappearing for long periods of time from the ring? Is it due to injuries, or are you pursuing other interests, to include acting, personal appearances or what?
Sting: It was one of two things every time -- one, a storyline; number two, injuries.
Question: Sting, I realize that you are involved in the US Title tournament tonight. if you win, do you plan to challenge for the World Title right away?
Sting: Of course!
AOLiveMC19: Time for one more question.
Question: Sting, thanks for chatting with us this evening. Good luck tonight. What do you recommend someone should do if they are interested in becoming a pro wrestler? Do you ever think that Brutus Beefcake (Ed Leslie) will ever return?
Sting: Anyone wanting to become a wrestler should think long and hard about it first, and if you're bound and determined or hell-bent on becoming a wrestler, contact The Power Plant in Atlanta, Georgia. I do not know whether Brutus will be back.
AOLiveMC19: Although it seems like we just got started, it appears as though we're out of time. I would like to thank you for joining us this evening, Sting.
AOLiveMC8: Yes, thank you, Sting!
Sting: Thanks for paying attention and listening and watching, and keep on!
