In the past two months, hundreds of mailing lists, newsgroups, organizations, web sites, virtual episodes, and their base have popped up on the internet to commemorate and pay tribute to "Another World." Unfortunately, just as many of these entities have disappeared during this time. Famous weekly chats are no longer, newsgroups postings fewer, message boards closing their doors, web sites becoming obsolete and fans slowly and painfully moving on. More dismal, but nonetheless true. Again, I ask, why speak of eternal existence? Through much discourse with other web site owners and fans in general, I have found that there still is a commission for "Another World." The fans are not going to forget about the hour they spent with their favorite characters each day for the past thirty-five years. "The Another World Anthology," has taken this sentiment into extreme consideration during its creation and maintenance stages. One might say that "TAWA (The Another World Anthology)," is just another mediocre web site dedicated to a dead soap opera. But, we the fans, can refute this argument. The entity is geared to be around for as long as any fan wishes to remember "Another World," and with the characteristics of "Another World's" fan base, that will be a very long time. It has and is continuing to be the home for many "Another World" fans across the globe. |
So what is "TAWA?" "The Another
World Anthology" is a web site that allows fans to participate in paying
tribute to thirty-five years of "Another World." It gives lots of
historical information on the show, alumni alerts, and "Bay City Bylines,"
the newsletter that you are now reading. It also provides "Another
World" fans with a permanent place to chat
and leave
messages for each other regarding the show, and for those fans who
like to read and write about "Another World" there is a fan
fiction area, virtual
episodes and a role-playing
game. These are just a few of "The Another World Anthology's"
features. Most of all "TAWA" comes from the heart. It is not
only one person's tribute, but a tribute of the fans.
So to answer my own question, "Another World" truly has eternal existence. This does not come in the form of a chat room, a mailing list, or even a web site. It comes from the fans, our enjoyments and our hearts. "The Another World Anthology" is not itself eternal but is a means for the fans to make "Another World" eternal. It will be there for the fans as long as "Another World" remains in our hearts. That is eternal. Please take the time to add your own tribute to "Another World," visit "TAWA" and participate with many fans to keep the light alive. https://www.angelfire.com/il2/anotherworldantholog Contact "TAWA" at AWAntholog@hotmail.com "TAWA" Popularity |
