Chicago Stadium opened on March 28, 1929, at that time, it was the largest indoor sporting arena in the entire world. Chicago Stadium was 240,000 square feet. It was the home of the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks. It also held many other special events. Chicago Stadium capacity was 17,339. It was built at a cost of around 7,000,000. Chicago Stadium became known as one of the toughest stadiums for opponents to play in. The crowd was nearly on top of the floor and was always loud. Chicago Stadium closed its doors in the spring of 94. Shortly after, was torn down. Chicago Stadium sometimes referred to as "Madhouse on Madison" will always be remembered as one of the best sporting arena's ever. It may be gone, but the spirit lives on.
UNITED CENTER
The United Center opened its doors in August of 1994. Its a state of the art building with 960,000 square feet. It was built at a cost of around 175 million. It seats 21,500 for a basketball game, and 20,500 for hockey. The United Center also host other special events such as concerts, wrestling, boxing, etc. The United Center has 1850 doors and 6500 parking spaces. Also it has 8 escalators, 9 elevators, 50 bathrooms, 2 restaurants, 216 luxury suites, 4 banquet rooms, 9 dressing rooms, 4 main locker rooms, 46 concession stands, and 2 auxiliary locker rooms. Prices of tickets range anywhere from $15 up to $425.
