CUBS FAN AT SOX GAME ATTACKS UMPIRE All baseball fans know what happened April 15, 2003 during a Sox-Royals game at U.S. Cellular field. Umpire Laz Diaz was attacked by a drunken fan who came out of the stands. The media told the story as "Fan Attacks Umpire," and you're left thinking that it was a Sox fan. The game was at the Sox park, so of course he was a Sox fan, right? What the media failed to make a point of was that the attacker, Eric Dybas, is a Cubs fan! His girlfriend said to reporters, "I don't know what he was doing there. He's a huge Cubs fan." One out of many Cubs fans you see at Sox games, for some reason. Dybas attended the Cubs game in the day time, and got drunk there, then came to the Sox night game and got more drunk. After he got out on the field, the Royals quickly beat the shit out of him. |
