Some Background...: This story was first written as part of another long story that I wrote for my best friends as a present. I had us all discover a time machine, and we each went to different places/time periods that interested us. Mine, of course, was the Monkees televison dimension.
Later on, I discovered the Long_Title mailing list and decided to take the Monkees part of the story I wrote and do a fanfic of my own. The first part got a pretty good response from the listers, so I decided to continue on.
Is "Adriana" you?:
Yes and no. At first, Adriana was totally me. She was the first character I really wrote and developed, and of course, you write what you know. As I kept writing, Adriana became less and less me. In fact, if you've read all of the stories, a bit of me is in all of my female characters. Adriana has many of my personality quirks and characteristics, along with my career interests and background. As the other series are posted, I'll reveal more about the formation of the female characters and what part of me is in them in the other "Behind the Fanfics".
Who are the other non-Monkee characters based on?:
Okay, here's a quick rundown...
Ursula: One of my very best friends.
Jessie: Another of my very best friends.
Link: The above mentioned friend's long-time boyfriend.
These characters are pretty much modeled exactly after the real life people. They're amazing friends, and I'm so glad to still have them as a part of my life.
*"Take a Giant Step", one of my very favorite Monkee tunes.
*I have no idea where the idea of a "black van" came from. I needed something that would fit a lot of people. It's the first thing that popped into my head and I went with it.
*Adriana's apartment is modeled after where I lived during my teenage years with my Mom and step-father.
*Title is taken from Michael Nesmith's "Carlisle Wheeling"
*"Be Here Now" was written by myself.
*Thanksgiving dinner as a tribute to my always unconventional ways to spend holidays.
*"It's My Heart" was written by myself.
*I really do love "Catch the Wind" by Donovan.
*Title inspired by The Mamas and the Papas "Look Though My Window"
*I really do a pretty good Cher impersonation.
*Another title from The Mamas and the Papas. I was listening to them a lot then, as you can probably tell.
*A great opportunity for me to use that Crowded House song. I always thought it would be great in a movie.
So, that's about it for any "Behind the scenes" secrets of the the first series. Pretty interesting, huh? Riiight.
Thanks for reading!
