Diagrams of turns

All of these turns can be done on either foot, and may go from forwards to backwards or vice versa.

A three-turn is a one-foot turn done with a change of edge occurring at the turn on the peak of the "3". The turn is done inside the circle.

An inside mohawk turn is done with one foot on an inside edge and transferring to the outside edge of the other foot. The turn is performed on one imaginary circle, with the turn itself occurring inside that circle.

An outside mohawk turn, like the inside mohawk, is performed on one imaginary circle. However, it entails one foot on an outside edge and transferring to the outside edge of the opposite foot, and the turn is done outside the circle.

A bracket is a one foot turn, done on one imaginary circle, with a change of edge and turn occuring outside the circle.

A counter is a one-foot turn done with no change of edge which covers parts of two different imaginary circles. The approach of the turn is like a bracket, while the exit is like a three-turn.

An outside choctaw is a two-foot turn done over two imaginary circles. The skater enters the turn on an outside edge and goes to the inside edge of the opposite foot. This is also known as a counter-like choctaw.

A rocker is another one-foot turn done with no change of edge. The turn is essentially the opposite of a counter; the entrance is like a three-turn and the exit is like a bracket.

An inside choctaw is like an outside choctaw, except the entrance is made on an inside edge and the exit on an outside edge. It is also known as a rocker-like choctaw.
