Lumbar Sympathetic Block

One of the most common treatments for RSD is the sympathetic block. The block is called lumbar for a patient that has RSD in a lower extremity, since the needle is placed into the lumbar region of the back. If the RSD is in the upper extremities then the block is called a stellate ganglion block. With this block the needle is inserted into the throat region. The medication is placed directly onto the spinal cord to try and reduce nerve activity. Back
