"In A Little While" -- Bono's tribute to Joey Ramone. At the end, he did this thing with the mic, where he'd hit it against his chest like a heartbeat. The whole song just gave me chills.

I tell you, never ever have I found a band with crew and security people as genuinely nice as U2's. It's the coolest thing.

Huh, Adam really is the biggest member of U2.

Liz's words of U2 wisdom...

  • If you're going to sit outside for 8 hours to ensure that you're on the rail for a general admission floor, bring sunscreen.
  • If you forget sunscreen, make sure you don't have one of those dippy crystal tattoo things on your arm. Crystal tattoo butterflies leave butterfly tan lines.
  • If you're planning to ask to shake the hand of your favorite guitarist in the whole world, don't let your roommate use your right hand to test out 5 different nail polish colors the night before.
  • If you let your roommate test out nail polish colors on you, make sure you have nail polish remover on hand.
  • If you're going to spend 8 hours waiting in line to guarantee a prime spot for the concert, make sure you have more than 12 exposures of film with you.
  • When U2 is in town, sleeping is cheating.
  • If you disregard the above points, when it's all said and done, you'll realize that you still had the time of your life.

Every now and again, it's good to leave behind the camera and the minidisc recorder and all the other gadgets, and just hear the music and enjoy the show. And enjoy, I did. Despite the bruised ribs. (Jeez those East Coast fans are a rowdy bunch!)

That said, I was quite thrilled when the guy next to me offered to send me reprints of his pictures.
