Lesson 1:  Build an English Royal Family Tree covering the Renaissance Period.

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To use the
                  information found in a way that summarizes the most significant events or situations
                  in a particular monarch's life.  This lesson allows students to exercise organizational,
                  synthesizing and graphic design skills.

Grade Level:  Freshmen to Senior High School (One can manipulate the levels of difficulty by
                     adding or subtracting details required).



 

Lesson 2:  Write a poem about Henry VIII and his wives.

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To extract
                  the essence of this most infamous of Renaissance characters and the equally infamous
                  wives through poetry.  This lesson allows students to exercise synthesizing,
                  organizational, instinctive and creative skills in writing.

Grade Level:  Freshmen to Senior in high school


Lesson 3:  Catalouge ten works of art or architecture.

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To learn
                  about Renaissance works of art and how art and artists influence cultural thought.
                 To exercise student's knowledge of artistic compositions and critical concepts.  To
                 expose students to museum exhibition formats.

Grade level:  Freshmen to Senior in high school


Lesson 4:  Create a Historical Timeline of Wars during the Renaissance...or options A, B, & C.

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To gain an
                  historical perspective about the tumultuous events which occurred during the
                  Renaissance period.  To assess a particular situation and identify the main players
                  and the main points or conflicts.  To extract the essence of a particular war, situation,
                  character, person.  To exhibit such knowledge in writing.

Grade level:  Freshmen to Senior in high school


Lesson 5:  Put yourself in A Day in the Life of:

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To learn
                  about a multitude of characters from the Renaissance Period.  To identify elemental
                  characteristics about a particular person from that period and the surrounding
                  environment that informs on that particular person's characteristics.  To utilize this
                  information in a creative writing process that reflects the writers knowledge of his/her
                  subject matter and the writer's own characteristics.

Grade level:  Freshmen to Senior in high school


Lesson 6:  Design a Renaissance Garden Plan.

Objectives:  To use multi-media resources to find information about a specific subject.  To learn
                  about classical forms of garden design, aesthetic principles of the Renaissance and its
                  gardens.  To have a familiarity with classic and timeless horticulture.  To exercise
                  compositional skills with an emphasis on color, texture and perspective. To exercise
                  mathematic skills in scale, proportion, height and volume.  To give the design a
                  personal stamp.  To be able to extract its essence in one direct, succint sentence.

Grade Level:  Freshmen to Senior in high school
