Munkustrap woke with a start. He didn't know the reason, but soon saw it staring at him. It was a small white kitten, with black paws and a black tail. It was barely a month old. "What is your name?" The kitten said nothing. "Where are you from?" Again silence. "How old are you?" The kitten again just stared at him in silence. Munkustrap was at a loss, he didn't know what to do. Usually he would go talk to Old Deuteronomy about any kitten he found, but it was late and he didn't want to bother him. Soon he felt the kitten rub up against him. "I like you and I don't care what my uncle says." "And who might your uncle be?" "Macavity" said the young kitten in surprise. "I though everyone knew him." Munkustrap was just staring at her in surprise, and curiousness,and took a step back. For the first time in his life munkustrap was at a loss for words. "Are you going to make me leave also," asked the young kitten hanging her head.

"Before you even ask this is how the story goes. Right after I was born my daddy found out who my momma's brother was, that would be my uncle Macavity, and he sent us away. He believed that she had tricked him into having me just so I would grow up to be like my uncle, even though my momma argued that, that wasn't it at all and that she really loved him he just wouldn't listen so we left.

At this point she looked up at Munkustrap who nodded for her to continue. " I didn't really know where momma was headed to. Every night we would stay in a different alley. One night I woke up to my momma hissing angerly at a big shadow. at first I thought it was a pollicle but then I sensed a cats presence and it was bad, I wanted to go hide but I couldn't leave momma. She fought with the big shadow, and he knocked her down. I went to go over to her, but the last thing I remember was someone laughing. I woke up in the most uncomfortable position, and my head hurt. But I then sensed two familiar presences. Momma and daddy! Even before I could see I was running toward the familiar scents. My momma started to groom me while my daddy licked my ear. Just then something bad started to come near. It was the same bad thing that was in the alley."Ahh look the loving family together again."

"Mcavity stay back"

"Shut-up, Jellicle"

At this point Munkustrap interrupted her. "What did you just say?"

"My uncle said, 'shut-up Jellicle"

"Your father was a jellicle, what was his name?"

"I never knew I just always called him daddy." She again looked at Munk who again nodded for her to continue. She took a deep breath and went on.

"My daddy and ucle started to fight, then my uncle killed my daddy." Munkustrap saw a tear run down the kitten's cheek. He nuzzled the kitten and she went on, knowing that it would be okay. "He then came up to my momma, who tried to hide me behind her. But i was so mad I ran at him, but with one flick of his paw he sent me flying across the room. My momma came over to me and tried to help me up."

"You have failed me Ketra"

"I told you I would never give her to you."

"Yes you did but now I have her so there is no need for you."

"And with one swipe of his paw he killed her also." The young kitten burst into tears, Munkustrap nuzzled her and licked her ear to try and confort her.

"How did you find out about me?"

"After my momma and daddy were killed, my uncle tried to make me be just like him. He told me all about the Jellicles, and how bad they were and that one day I would learn to hate them to. But my momma always told me never to trust anything he said. And the first chance I got I ran away. He thought I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to get away, if only he knew. So I ran and ran and somehow wound up here."

"Well your a Jellicle so that led you here."

"You mean I'm really a Jellicle"

"It would seem that way, let me ask you again what is your name?"

"Wizzard"

"That's quite an unusual name."

" My momma said that with my powers I would be like a wizard when I grew-up."

" You have powers?"

"That's what my momma said"

"Well in the morning you shall meet Mistoffelees, our magic cat. But now we should get some sleep you have a big day ahead of you."
