St. Mary Lake is the second largest lake in the park, at 11 miles long and around 1/2 mile wide. The lake has a depth of 285 ft. at the deepest point. Wild Goose Island is in the middle of the lake. The island is small, but picturesque. From Sun Point, a visitor can see almost the entire lake as well as the numerous peaks on the divide in the distance.
