St. Mary Lake
St. Mary Lake is the second largest lake in the park, at 11 miles long and around 1/2 mile wide. The lake has a depth of 285 ft. at the deepest point. Wild Goose Island is in the middle of the lake. The island is small, but picturesque. From Sun Point, a visitor can see almost the entire lake as well as the numerous peaks on the divide in the distance. Poplar hike destinations around the lake include St. Mary Falls, Virgiaia Falls, Baring Falls, Sunrift Gorge, and Red Eagle Lake.
