Archive File Number 1301: Poison For Profit

Poison For Profit was founded in the late spring of 2003 by Chris Colucci and Brian Albertz. They were both ex-members of a band known as Armistace, which had a somewhat odd existence, because it seemed to never end. Finally, the unexpected happened, and the immortality that was Armistace, fell with a bitter end. After parting ways from the band all the members went on the join different projects in the area. Yet, Brian and Chris came across a predicament. They found that the bands they had joined weren’t totally up to the expectations that they had made for their musical careers. Finally after some months apart they both decided to leave those bands and reunite to embark on a new project far different from anything they had previously done. Both agreed that they wanted a newer sound. Something with more emotion, more politics, and more room for free thinking. Also, they wanted to make sure that this band was made up of the “right” musicians. This was the troublesome part of the journey. They had to dive headfirst in the musician department, only to come up empty handed most of the time.

Luckily though, the two bandmates found themselves in a conversation with an acquaintance named Tom Bianchi. He expressed a want to be in a heavier band where he could play guitar. An instrument he had mastered for the last 8 years but never really got to use in a band. So the try-out was set, and it went beautifully. Tom brought something to the table that was different than any other musician. First off, he came to the try-out with two songs completely written, but also brought with him, an ingenious writing ability. For the next 3 months Poison For Profit jammed acoustically writing music and lyrics and just trying to build musical connections between the three of them. Everything was great, except for one lacking aspect, they could not find the right percussion player.

It was sometime, but finally at a local show Poison For Profit received the number for a drummer named Tony. They gave him a call and the next weekend he showed up for a try-out. He was very quiet and just set up all his equipment while the rest of the band chit chatted. Finally when it came time to play, they told Tony to just improvise what he could. What came from behind that set was a power that just about blew everyone off their feet. Among all the drummers they had tried out and played with, Tony was unmatched in his creativity and skill. That night, while dining on Chinese food, they decided that Tony was to be the drummer for Poison For Profit.

After all this musical experience, vocalist Chris Colucci had finally found his catalyst for the ultimate vision. With strong ideology and philosophy backing them, Poison For Profit rose from the dust to spread the universal message of salvation. Songs with such themes as anti-racism, earth liberation, revolution, anti-ruling class, hope, and peace. In addition, they brewed songs dealing with spiritualism, depicting indigenous myth and belief. None of these lyrics could have ever be given light if it hadn't been for the musical onslaught of this group of creative minds though.

Poison For Profit has worked very hard to achieve what they have and has no intention to stop. The music is rising with every waking moment, and will continue to triumph over adversity. This isn't just a spectacle to be watched from afar, this is a voice of the people. An everlasting call to keep the earth sacred.
This is our "poison" for the "profit" of revolution.

Archive File Number 1013: Meaning of the Name

The name Poison For Profit was derived from a term describing corrupt corporations who develop pesticides that will make a person sick, wherein they must also buy that same company’s pharmaceutical products. The band twisted the meaning so that it meant they were “poisoning” corporate antagonists, and “profiting” only by seeing new people emerge with a voice for change.
